If you could trade breweries with another state...

    So i just got back from my yearly trip to my folks home in Minnesota and brought back home my usual haul of stuff I get in the MN/WI area that I can't get back home.

    I had a few cases of Yuengling sitting about the house and got to thinking if I could trade Yuengling to the upper Mid-West what would I want in return.

    My criteria was a brewery that does similar styles to what I know and like in Yuengling but better. Also factored in was size, distribution, and quality. For example not going to say, I'm going to trade Yuengling for Founders becuase it quite clearly would not be a fair trade.

    The winner.........August Schell Brewing Company

    Grain Belt Premium/Schell's Deer Brand > Yuengling Premium
    Schell's Bock > Yuengling Bock
    Schell's Octoberfest > Yuengling Octoberfest
    Schell's Hefe > Yuengling Hefe

    A lot of people are going to give me flak on this but I even prefer Grain Belt Nordeast over Yuengling Lager due to the more subdued sweetness of Nordeast.

    And I will gladly trade of Lord Chesterfield Ale and Yuengling Porter for Schell's Schwarzbier and Shell's Pilsner.

    So, what brewery from your state would you trade for another based on my criteria of fairness?

    many consider victory the best brewery in PA(which they are), but i feel like what we could get in a trade would be much better for me personally. i love dirt wolf and old/oak horiztonal, but there are definitely breweries on par with victory who i would drink way more offerings from.

    I would trade Stone for Founders.
    Definitely keeping Firestone Walker Barrelworks and Russian River for the sours though! :-)

    I would trade Ommegang, Ithaca, or Brooklyn for Three Floyds, Russian River, or the Alchemist. Whichever swap is the most fair per the OP's criteria.

    It's pretty easy for a Californian. I'll trade Bear Republic, not because I dislike them or anything, but they just don't stand out for me. I'll trade it for Victory so we have more local choices that make some great German beers. I'm sure there are other similar choices in the Midwest, but I just haven't been able to try them.

    I think Schell's gets overlooked in Minnesota but having a brewery in state that pumps out traditional German style beers with that quality is a hell of a nice perk. You (hypothetically) chose wisely, young Skywalker.
