West Virginia is correct, although Greenbrier Valley Brewing is catching up quick.

I am always leery about these best of state lists. There often seems to be 'politics' in the selection process?

Anyhow I just quickly skimmed through the list and it looks like a fairly solid list. I am sure that some folks will take exception here or there but....

    Cheers!

Pretty solid list imo. I would be interested to see this again in 5-10 years if the IPA bubble ever bursts and something else becomes wildly popular instead.

I don't know about Wyoming's for a few reasons. Supposedly Melvin's has great beer, but it is a pretty little place and (unless I am way off base) you very rarely--if ever--will see it anywhere on tap or anything. Colorado gets it occasionally and they brew enough to enter it in festivals and whatnot, but for my money Snake River or something would be a better candidate since it can be found in many places, they've been around for a long time, etc. My guess would be that although they say they have a crack team of beer nerds or whatever, they really just put the highest rated beer in the state down cause it was easy. At the end of the day, though, if they make good beer, I guess they deserve to be on there whether they are super-obscure or not.
    Just my two cents.

Also, "It sounds like something you’d get out in Portland, not the wide-open spaces of Wyoming." Well they are in Jackson

I would enjoy that happening. I like IPA's too but good lord has it become oversaturated. I'm more into traditional styles now.

I posted this because I thought a handful of them were solid. I agree with the pick for Mass, NH, Vermont and even agree with the ones for Virginia and Georgia. I have no idea outside the east coast though so I what other people thought. I know for me Florida has a solid pick with Cigar City, but I would have picked Funky Buddha.

Looked like a solid list. I enjoyed that many of the "controversial states" had a small disclaimer of an understanding that there could never just plain be a "best of/no one would disagree/trump card" ect.

Surly is not the best brewery in Minnesota (in 2007 and 2008 probably)...Above surly in my opinion Indeed, steel toe, lift bridge, town hall, dangerous man

Agree with Wiseacre for TN, but Yazoo is close with their sours. I would have picked Good People in AL and Country Boy in KY. I'm a big fan of Southern Prohibition in MS.

Dammit, I love lists...in SC I prefer Holy City to Westbrook, and I'm sure I'm in the vast minority

I was also not optimistic, but this is a pretty good list. Nothing stood out as an obvious mistake. I would choose Bissell Bros. over Maine Beer Co., but I think they are pretty even. Thanks for posting OP!

The only one I looked at and thought WTF was Hoppin' Frog for Ohio. You have Columbus, Jackie O's, Fat Heads (who I would have given the nod to), and many others and they pick Hoppin' Frog. Just an odd one.

They have Duclaw as Marylands best. What a freaking joke! That's just embarrassing. Burley Oak, Union, Stillwater, and even Flying Dog are all much, much better.

Nah, It's chestnut brew works by a mile. Morgantown Brewing Company is better than bridge brew works and greenbriar valley, they just don't get any love because the head brewer is all about British and german styles.

I believe the word you're looking for is either 'sour' or 'saison' godo sir.

Sure it's not at the level of saturation that IPAs have hit, but they're on their way. Just give it another year or two.

Yeah I agree sour/gose is probably the next "big-thing", I just would like to see if these breweries who make masterpiece IPA/IIPA's would survive if, suddenly, everyone started freaking out about porters or something. Or sours, gose, saisons, etc.

Kind of hard to call a brewery that has exactly 0 beer reviews on here the 'best in the state.' That's like saying my home brewing buddy next door makes the best beer in the state.

I've had 7 beers from Morgantown, only one was remotely memorable and that was 1st Shift.

Once Greenbrier Valley rolls out their barrel aging program with Smooth Ambler, they'll quickly become the most popular in the state.

New Hampshire - Stoneface. I was pleased to read this article because I figured they'd give the NH crown to Smuttynose. But personally, they should consider Kelsen, which has won 6 medals in the last two years.
