Old Topic, i just want to express by dissatisfaction with one particular brewery: Greenflash.

I don't understand the loyalists for this brewery, I've been duped. I have tried pretty much all of their beers, and recently made the trek to their new project "Cellar 3" Thinking that their BA stuff would be different. It wasn't. The only reason I still go is because they acquired Alpine (managed to mess up Nelson BTW,) Maybe I'm being too harsh, and I don't know what I'm talking about or maybe there is some truth to it. What do you think is the most overrated brewery? and if you live in San Diego do you like Greenflash's offerings?

I think GF makes some solid stuff, I could live with or without them though. Actually I don't recall when I last bought anything by them myself, though I did have some West Coast at a friends house a week or two ago which was pretty good.

The only thing I've tried from Green Flash was Cellar 3: Silva Stout. I thought it was good. Not being a fan of any hop forward stuff, there's no reason for me to bother with 99% of their line-up.

There are two breweries here locally that everyone raves about (partly, I think, because they're local), and every one of their beers has the same exact taste to it. There's probably one beer from each that's worth spending coin on, but other than that....mehhh. Get off my lawn

Green Flash is on my do not buy list. I have disliked every hoppy beer I have tried from them (and they don't send anything else here). I don't understand it, but all their beers seem to have this residual bitterness that is simply extreme and harsh. I drink more IPAs and DIPAs than anything else, but don't like theirs. I haven't liked any from Coronado either.

Vote with you're dollar. Taste, in anything from art to sexual attraction to beer, is subjective. It's just life, don't let it befuddle you.

Green Flash is fine. Neither over rated or under rated. Road Warrior, Hop Head Red and Soul Style are all great beers. They have some stinkers too like their Double Stout and Belgian Pale. I'm not sure I have an over rated brewery that really stands out. I'm not a big Goose Island, Stone, Bell's or Ballast Point fan but I would say that's more down to taste than my thinking they are putting out bad beers not worth the hype.

I would have to agree with you, I tried one of their versions of an Alpine IPA and was very disappointed. Every 'Alpine made" IPA I've had has been amazing.

I understand your sentiments. GF is outshined by their 'big brother' Stone just up I-78 on most occasions, but I'm very partial to Stone so my opinion is quite biased. I do enjoy Hop Head Red though. When fresh, its really good. West Coast IPA is pretty decent too, but just not quite top notch like their other SD brethren (Stone, Alesmith, Ballast Point, Modern Times). I will still get hop head red, although Port Brewing's Shark Attack is now a strong competitor for a purchase of hoppy red ale...

Isn't that unfortunate that Alpine's name is being dragged through the mud like that. I never get Alpine on tap anymore because I know it's going to be GF's cheapened production. Their new cellar series sour is just atrocious.

Have you ever had Rayon Vert? Sure, it was annoying as fuck to pour in a glass (that and it's not exactly being made anymore), but it's the closest anyone has come to capturing the essence of Orval in my mind.

GREEN FLASH BREW THIS BEER AGAIN RIGHT NOW

The most overrated brewery of all has to be ABinBev. How can so many people like so many of their offerings?

I've only had Alpine a few times, before the GF agreement, and was amazed every time.

Maine Brewing Company is the most overrated in my book. I like their ethos that they aim to make well-balanced, sum-of-its-parts sorta beers, but I feel they take subtlety too far. Lunch and Dinner are fine IPAs, but nowhere near the hype and ratings they command, and especially not the prices. MO, Peeper, and Another One taste too close to each other and the first two to be worth trying or mentioning. Mean Old Tom is one of the most bland beers I've had. I like their ideas, I just think the execution is lacking.

Up until this past weekend, I would've said de Garde, but Broken Truck and The Anniversary changed my mind on them. I still think the Bus are vastly overrated and simplistic, but their wilds/"lambics" seem to be worth seeking out.
