No, but if the article is correct in saying that New Hampshire's law against showing minors in alcohol bottles has been struck down, then what would be the point of changing the label?

Sorry, but Founders should have pulled a Trump and stuck to their guns no matter what. :stuck_out_tongue:

BUT, like someone else said, its whats IN the bottle that matters. :sunglasses:

I recommend everyone here call the number on the label. You don't have to talk to an actual human being, it's a short voice message.

This was one of the best beer labels out there. I'll miss it for sure.

Can you imagine some of the drunk dialing messages they're going to get on that voice mail?

The new label is fun, but the original will always be etched in my brain as FBS. (It is the one that forever changed my perception of beer.) I just can't figure out why now, after all these years.

It was such a travesty that they would even consider marketing to the baby/infant market. How dare Founders do that!

...but real talk, people are way too sensitive about stuff now-a-days.

Wow, I figured this would generate some discussion, but didn't expect people to get upset. As the OP, I figure I should chime in again.

    1. It's not a hoax. I pulled the images from a TTB COLA search: http://www.ttbonline.gov/colasonline/publicSearchColasBasic.do I was looking for the new Spectra Trifecta label and happened to notice an entry for FBS:

I'm not sure that just because it's been approved that they will actually use it. I'm not ITB, so I have no idea how this kind of stuff works.

    2. I did a little research and the application is dated 5/27/15. I'm not sure when HB122 passed through the NH house, but it was vetoed on 6/3, then overruled on 6/11. It seems like this may have been an attempt to put the uncertainty of what was happening in NH to rest. Also, do any other states have similar restrictions? If so, might this also be an attempt to get ahead of the issue?

    3. Why in the world would anyone be upset at Founders over this? All they're trying to do is comply with the law. Yes, it's an asinine law, but it's still the law. I don't get why anyone would begrudge them the ability to sell this beer wherever they can. And this is not a case of political correctness, it's an existing law that most people agree is wildly outdated. Seems like some NH politicians are using the "won't someone think of the children" strategy, which is as old as dirt.

Personally, I think the new label is funny. I see it as a tongue-in-cheek way of pointing out how ridiculous the situation is. It's a sly nod to everyone familiar with the baby label without being directly confrontational, the way dressing an old man in a bonnet might be.

Now, let's all calm down a bit and get back to drinking beer.

OP ... I'm sure most of us aren't upset with Founders. I know I'm not. It's just that the original label is iconic with the better beer movement. Change is sometimes hard for people.

Yeah, the "baby on the label = underage drinking!" thing is completely backwards logic.

Most teenagers who do a lot of underage drinking are very much in the "obsessed with being grown-up" phase -- they're going to AVOID things that they might associate with kids, so a baby or little kid on the label of a beer isn't going to make them want to buy that beer... plus, underage drinkers generally go for cheaper beer (PBR seemed to be the "cheap beer of choice" among the underage drunks I was unfortunate enough to know back in high school), so a four-pack that costs as much as a 12-pack of the cheapo beers is probably not going to be something they'd consider anyway regardless of what's on the label.

It wasn't about people being offended, but about violating a state law. A seemingly over the top law, but a law nonetheless. Unless you're talking about the people who are offended because it was changed, in which case I would agree with you. It's just a beer label for crying out loud and they had a fun response to it.
