Black Friday releases for hipster brunch stout at odd side ales in Grand Haven, and Bourbon county in Chicago. Which release should I go to? I'm in Grand Rapids, Grand Haven is a half hour away, Chicago is 3 hours away. Thoughts??

    You should go to Chicago.

    BCBS trumps, go for that.

Is Hipster Brunch (and the other limited releases--Nihilist, BBA Imperial Mayan Mocha, Mokka Munt) brewery-only release? Or do they see distro? Specifically to the AA/Ypsi area...

But to answer your question OP, if I had the time I'd drive to Chicago and try and get me a bottle of Prop over going to Odd Side. But from what I hear, you need to do your homework if you wanna get the more limited stuff...

Some of the limited releases hit distro, but in very small amounts. The few places that got hipster had a one bottle limit. You could buy cases at the brewery for a couple weeks after the release. The hype for that beer has since grown quite a bit, so I imagine it will be much more difficult to come by. I've never been to the black Friday release in Chicago, and we get barely any variants in Grand Rapids so I'm leaning towards that.

Grand Haven. I'd rather have a case of Hipster Brunch than a few bombers(or 500ml) of variants at this point.

Thanks for the info (and sorry to hijack). The one I'm really keen on is the Imperial Mayan. May have to drive up to GH that weekend...

Go to Chicago and have a gameplan not involving Binnys Lincoln Park.

As others have asked, which do you prefer? Go with that one.

I would imagine the Hipster Brunch release will be way less brutal than BCBS on Black Friday, though. Speaking as someone who lives in Chicago, that is not a fun scene, unless you like running around like a madman.

...Which I'll be doing, since I love Bourbon County.

It took a little while to get to AA/Ypsi, and when it did it was extremely scarce. It's one of the only distributed releases from a Michigan brewery I've missed over the past year.

I like hipster more than bcbs, but I've never been able to get any variants,

Chicago. Be prepared to camp basically overnight in 10 degree weather though.

I'm also really excited for odd sides barrel aged mint stout coming out in December.

I've seen Hipster on the shelf in metro detroit. Have never seen BCBS. However BCBS is more available on the trade market. Despite BCBS ranking as my personal top favorite, I'm not driving to Chicago for beer from the east side of the state. Given the above info, that Monster 29 is looking pretty good.

An Odd Side employee was replying to comments on their facebook post yesterday saying that all 4 would be hitting distro. Not sure if he said how much though.
