So where are brewers supposed to come from? Cal Davis? Breaking away from the BMC's of the world? Brewers have to come from somewhere... Your rant is rather stupid. BJCP is simply for homebrewing competitions to help homebrewers get quality feedback about their beer. 90% of the time it's identifying off flavors and giving suggestions on how to improve their methods of brewing.

I'd love to visit the great brewing nations of the world, but about half those nations have beer I don't care for.

I think collabs are over done. I'm sure they're fun for the brewers, but as Stone has proved, 90% of their collabs are muddy messes of failure.

In Belgium, brewers are created by leaving an uncovered vat of genetic material outside to collect additional genetic material native to the specific region. 9 months later...voila, a top-notch brewer! Check wikipedia if you dont believe me...

Canned beer is no more likely to be flat than bottled beer.

The only thing I'm fed up with in craft beer is "beer hoarders" and/or "people who buy out limited release beer to sell on eBay instead of drinking it".

E.G. - People showing up to buy KBS this year, and then turning around and selling it for $80+ a 4 pack... to the people still in line.

That sorta thing annoys the shit out of me.

This is the first ever heard anyone complain that canned beer is flat. FWIW, crown or twist caps on bottles have a much higher rate of failure than cans.

Sounds like a good way to get your ass kicked. Just bump into them and watch their beer fall to the ground and shatter.

You take that back. I and Kzoobrew are really looking forward to IPADay on Thursday. Especially since no one sent me and IPAD last year. **Fingers crossed for a better 2012**

    Cheers!

Barrel Aged Beer? brewers who suck at it putting out crappy versions of BA beers are annoying.

But theres no way I'm fed up with Parabola, Abacus, Black Tuesday, Eclipses... etc.

I agree that food channel chefs are ridiculous, but Batali isn't just some other smiling face making turkey burgers on TV
He's a tremendously accomplished chef that has forgotten more about food than most people will ever know. Additionally, he is a big advocate of craft beer. Him making a beer and food pairing suggestion isn't the same as Rachel Ray doing it.

I agree that he is extremely qualified to make suggestions on pairings. But don't those suggestions become suspect when he is recomending the beer made by one of his business partners in Bierreria?

All of the things you mentioned combined make up only a small percentage of the craft beer on the market. Just stop paying attention to it and focus on the 95% of craft beer that's just "normal" beer.

IPA Day has no meaning. It was August 4th last year, now it's August 2nd. My only conclusion is that the trend now seems to be it's the first Thursday in August. Why? What's the meaning? Why not celebrate IPAs every day? It's ridiculous stupid and you know it!

You know whats stupid. The Phillies, Geno's Cheestakes and the liberty bell. How dare you sir, take a beloved national holiday such as a contrarion IPA day and make a mockery of it.

    Cheers!

(Told you, I would bring East vs. West Coast back. Thank you IPA Day. I think DING would be proud)

He opened a bar/restaurant on the top floor of the building where his restaurant/store Eately is located (ie Madison Square in NYC). I've been there twice and the tap beers were awful and the bottled beers were way overpriced.

I don't mind them. I just wish that a brewery would do a little more R&D and perfect the recipe before flooding the market with more mediocre craft beer.

I have had some canned beers that appeared flat - eg Ten Fidy when it is ice cold pours out like motor oil with no head at all.

i'm a bit fed up with seeing beer geeks in line for a beer release debating the benefits of simcoe v amarilo while a hot woman next to them can't seem to even get noticed.

i think what i'm saying is that i'm noticing waaay too much beer talk and normal social interaction seems to be secondary at a lot of places i go.

Hmm... I think this beer would benefit significantly from aging. I'm planning to lay a couple down for quite some time. I know storage space is limited at just about every brewery in the US, but it would be nice if they held onto these for a long time before shipping. Maybe they already did this with BRUX, I don't know.
