Focal banger

There was a guy in front of me who cut the line, walked in, asked the Beverage Baron staff if they had Heady Topper, was told, "no," and proceeded to walk right past the cases of Focal Banger on his way out of the store.

Ah man, I just landed in Boston this morning at 8am. Had I known about this release, I would have totally gone

 

Great sale today. Being a Monday likely helped keep the crowd down. There were 2 guys in line at 10:30. I drive around some and when I came back around 11, I was 7th in line. anyone who showed up by 1:45 likely got a case. My guess is that the cut time was around 2:00...

Was also able to land some Heady in Montpelier. A case of Focal and 4 4 packs of Heady makes for some good August drinking on vacation!

 

Traded for a four pack. Pretty excited to try them out

 

What did it take if you don't mind me asking? I have probably traded away 2 cases of focal, but everytime i try to land some i strike out. Oh well, I can't wait until it is more availble.

 

Great time yesterday. My only gripes are people showing up prior to the requested 1pm time and it was a bit unfair to those who did show up at that time that they had already started selling. I'm not complaining that they sold earlier because I got out of there by 150pm but if I were running things I'd do a lottery at 2pm or something or tell people showing up before 1pm to find something to do. Either way it tastes great and glad I was able to grab a case by luck of the draw (we happened to be visiting in vt till Monday before it was announced)

 

Glad it worked out. I'm honestly at a loss for what breweries can do to stop people from showing up hours early, despite being expressly told not to.

 

Everyone that shows up before said time gets a hand stamp. Everyone that shows up at/after said time gets a different stamp. People with "early arrival stamp" get turned away with a polite "Sorry, maybe next time you will be respectful of the hours we asked you to arrive at"

 

I like that idea!

 

I've mentioned similar techniques in the past. It would work but no one is going to do it.

 

Kudos to the Alchemist and Beverage Baron for their kind donations to Barre flood relief. The best thing about the Alchemist is not Focal Banger, Heady or all of the wonderful beers they used to brew at the brewpub. The best thing about the Alchemist is their social responsibility and what they do for Vermont.

 

I headed up to Vermont soon and I was wondering where I could get my hands on some heady topper? Beer stores or bars? Best days? thanks.

Where did all the Focal from this release go?? I have yet to see a single FT on the trading forum. Such a sad, sad state of affairs for us non-locals.

 

Two cases to the dome this summer

 

I think the last part of that statement is unfair. A significant portion of the total allotment of Focal Banger wound up in the hands of non-Vermonters at the sale, with New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut all representing strong with their contingents.

The reality is that, at this particular moment, Focal Banger is one of the most sought after -and perhaps the most difficult- world-class IPA to acquire on the market. With a limited allocation of 24 cans per person, and the very real possibility that this beer may not be available again until next year, it is going to be tough to convince people to trade away whatever remaining beer they may have in exchange for the majority of what is currently being offered in the forums (regardless of whether the trade offers seem "fair" or "even" on the dollar values.)

With that said, I certainly understand your frustration as it pertains to the relative impossibility of acquiring beer you share a particular fondness for in the craft beer world and wish you luck on your search. There were 3840 cans sold to the public during last week's sale, so I would imagine that landing one (or more) remains statistically possible, even probable.
