Yeah, I had 2 bottles of Vanilla Rye, drank the first and traded the second. I had some more recently and it's getting better, I think. I've heard people say that they think once the heat falls off a little, the vanilla starts to shine through, so that might be the case there.

Last year at this time I am pretty sure the variant had been announced...but I think the brew-master changed so waiting anxiously

If I can just get the coffee and barley wine I'll be happy, all other variants are nearly impossible to get.

Is this the "BOURBON COUNTY SPECULATION THREAD" or is this the "I DONT LIKE BCBS THREAD" or "HOW MUCH DOES DARKLORD COST COMPARED TO HOW MUCH BOURBON COUNTY IS PRODUCED THREAD" all of a sudden?

    Right?

I feel like this thread had a great start and good input and then you guys just sh t all over it with your complaints about Bourbon County. This thread is for people that are EXCITED about the variants, these people don't care about the prices or $1 per ounce scale, we just want to know what the variants are, so if you can sleep with someone or circle jerk with a group of brewers that knows something about when the release is or know for sure whats coming out, post pics and kindly, let us know.

We will gladly stand in line anywhere in Chicago, Houston or Orlando for these bottles and I paid $40 dollars for a bottle of VR last year, so suck on that.

I second this, the barley wine is my favorite variant.

    Yeah just saw that.

Think Goose Island needs to show Cigar City, Perennial, and Westbrook what's up and do a variant with Cacao Nibs, Madagascar Vanilla Beans, Ancho Chilis, and Cinnamon.

Those adjuncts on the Bourbon County base would destroy Hunahpu, Abraxas, and Mexican Cake in my opinion.

People still worked over this Inbev beer? Weird. Seems like the fad woulda passed by now.

    You seemed to enjoy it.

Goose Island really got this beer right. A job well done."

    Mint chocolate sounds really good.

Prop should be Burbon County "abraxas" and the regular variant should be Mint Chocolate.

Sure, never said it wasn't a good beer. But, is it (or any beer, really) worth all this fuss and ruckus? Lining up hours ahead of time? Worth, as someone said back upthread a bit, "leaving Thanksgiving dinner early" for? If folks enjoy that, well, have fun. It's not worth it if you can't collect 'em all.

I'm personally hoping for a Maple variant. My favorite BA beers all seem to be with that adjunct flavor. Maybe Coffee Maple and it could be a mini-KBBS.

You realize that's not exactly a fair comparison right? Huna, Abraxas and Mexi Cake are not barrel aged beers.

So if you add those flavors to BCBS then you should really be comparing to DB Huna, BA Abraxas and the BA Cakes, which as far as I can tell are some of the best and most sought after stouts on the planet right now.

I know. Just trying to joke a bit. I agree the hunt is crazy but I still do it every year. (note i do not leave dinner early lol.)

I really think a BCBS version of those flavors would eclipse the craziness that it is to acquire DB huna, ba abrax, and the ba cakes.

I have a feeling you're going to get your wish and one is going to be maple. Then there's usually one with a fruit component. Bramble, Cherry, Backyard, etc... Maybe they go back to Raspberry or Cherry?
