Does your affinity for great, strong coffee affect your taste in coffee beers? I drink black coffee several times every day. I used to steer away from coffee beers because their flavor and aroma profiles were too familiar, essentially "burning me out" to a characteristic that I was already accustomed to on a daily basis with my strong cup of joe. However, I've started to really appreciate and crave certain coffee stouts, porters, and the influx of golden coffee milk stouts.

No. If anything i search out coffee beers more. Quite a few good'uns out there.
I have also added beans to beers before.

I have found that very few coffee beers do any justice to good coffee. I really prefer my stouts and porters separate from my coffee and vice versa.

I drink coffee every day, quite a bit throughout the day. I also love coffee beers. You're not alone!

I think my taste in coffee beers has only further enhanced my love for coffee.

I think I tend to look for them more..I do love me a good cup of coffee, but there's nothing like a coffee stout or porter at the end of the day. That Smog City Coffee Porter...man, good stuff right there!

We get tired of what we like after a while...having certain things on a regular basis. So I was just getting this feeling of you drinking black coffee just to keep chuggin' along through the workday like most of us, and being sick of coffee; but simultaneously accepting it as a necessary means of pressing on.

So, I figured you might have retired and stopped drinking coffee for a while because it was no longer necessary and started to miss it. Eh, ya know.

    P.S. I love Harry.

I really hate drinking coffee and very very rarely do (last time I did was around 6 years ago)...but I absolutely love coffee beers. I don't really know why this is, but it is. I'm actually the same way with chocolate...could care less about some nice dark chocolate, but crave it in my dark beers.

I prefer my stouts to have at least a little coffee in them. I homebrew most of the beer I drink and schedule at least 2 coffee stouts (usually one with cacao nibs and one without) and another just chocolate stout in the fall and winter rotation.

I like both coffee and coffee beers, but they seem quite different to me and not really comparable. I sometimes like the coffee taste better in coffee beers than in coffee. Coffee beer is much sweeter than black coffee, even the more bitter coffee beer. I like bitterness in IPAs, but honestly black coffee is so acidic and bitter it sometimes makes me gag unless I add cream.

When I first started drinking coffee stouts and porters I didn't really care for the coffee bitterness, but gradually started to appreciate it. What drove it home is one of my favorite 8th Wonder Rocket Fuel was on tap with nitro at a bar the other day and I had to have it. I did not like it at all. I thought it sucked all the bitterness out and the beer just kinda felt flat. Granted Left Hand Nitro Stout had me liking nito a year ago, I now tend to avoid them. I think they somewhat dull the beer, granted you get a creamy mouthfeel, but you lose some personality in the taste.

Idk, kinda depends. I don't think I've had a beer where coffee beans were added in the brewing process yet. I do think Guinness from the bottle tastes very coffee-esque and I kinda dislike Guinness from the bottle. I'd say it depends on the overall flavor profile.

something about that burnt/roasty coffee bean flavor. I like both coffee and the beers brewed with coffee, but I do not drink insane amounts of either

I'm good for 2-3 cups of coffee a day - always been a coffee drinker - even as a kid - and I really like coffee flavors in beers - stouts, specifically - but I only probably have a dozen coffee stouts in a year (I'm just guessing on that number), so there is no burn-out factor for me.

Now, work, on the other hand...

coffee used in beer is a completely different experience than black coffee. i would say that coffee infused brown ales capture the 'essence' of a standard medium/dark roast coffee most effectively. light roasts are another story

I work in a specialty coffee, beer, and cheese store so my love for all three sees a good amount of overlap.

What I would like to do is try stouts made with cold brew coffee against stouts with coffee added to the boil. Two different beasts for sure.

I like both, but I don't put sugar or any sweetener in my coffee and I don't like my coffee beers sweet either. A slight sweetness I can deal with, but anything more and you can keep it.

My love for coffee extends to coffee stouts and porters but my true love now is for coffee IPA.

    I don't drink coffee.
But I do jam on double espresso infrequently and find that the only coffee beers that I like are coffee porters and stouts similar to that.

...and dear brewers, please stop coffeeing up IPA's and golden whatevers, and never ever cappuccino anything.
Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Now when it comes to Noble's Naughty Sauce, I have to disagree with you there! I have also heard that Trillium's Day & Night is pretty fantastic, too. I hope I get to try that one soon.
