I can tell you with 100% certainty this is not the case with the main places I've gotten it previously. I haven't seen Boat or 077XX cans in months. I have more Heady Topper than Carton beers and that's a fact right now.

then you should work on your relationships with those stores because every shop on this list http://cartonbrewing.com/find-our-beer/ under "can retail" got a load of cans in the begging of july and will again in august. for the record there are a lot more cans of heady in the world than carton and in fact more in my fridge right now.

we want everyone in jersey to have the same fair shot at our beers, its just beer its not special and neither are you or I. we are getting more than ever to the same limited number of stores and ideally all the people that shop at those stores get a good chance at it without hassle thats why they are so spread around the whole state. our website has all the stores that get cans listed easily with their numbers, how hard is to call and say "you have any cans?" no one has to chase anything
*** edit for the record insisting stores not "hold beer in the back" doesn't mean they can't email or call when they know they are getting it, or get it when we surprise them, which we do sometimes. there are all kinds of relationships and i in fact insist on them

YOU were the one that said I need to work on my relationships at the stores. I never claimed to be special. I haven't had a good chance at it without hassle so maybe the business plan needs tweaking. No worries I can get plenty of other non special beer.

so make a good friend at a store and have them call you when it comes in no "out of the norm" business practices. problem solved moving on...

I don't, I've been a huge supporter of this brewery from the get go. I've been vocal in other forums about how much I love Boat and 077XX. There's things I don't like, and I voiced that. We each said our piece.

Augie should pull out his magic wand and make it all better. Demand is not up, they are just spending too much time brewing beers he doesn't like.

Is there by any chance an upper limit of what you allow your stores to charge for your beers? I saw 077 for $16 the other day with Boat for $11. Thought that was bizarre. Don't want to out the store on here publicly.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here. I'm. Agreeing. With. You.

Are you arguing with me just to argue with someone?

It seems from all your posts your just being a butt hurt cry baby. The owner of one of NJ"s top breweries has taken the time to address all the concerns brought up in here and all your doing is whining that it's less than easy for you to get cans of some of the most popular beers in the state. I feel like it seems like @augiecarton and his crew are doing a lot of work to get cans to stores all over the state in spite of being a very popular, very small brewery and your whining you missed the cans when they got to the stores. Your basic complaint is "no one goes there it's too crowded." You should really look at what an ass you are making yourself look like.

Dude, we've had run ins before you and I. I'm not whining. I shared an experience and said most of what I wanted privately to Augie and he adressed me there as well. If I wanted cans THAT badly I live 45 minutes away, I'd go get it at the source. But, despite what's being said here I, as well as others that have posted, have not seen near the quantity of cans circulating. I really love this brewery and my passion for the reality to be recognized might have spilled over as butthurt, but that was not my intention.

suggested retail on boat is $10 and dub is $13 but we don't tell people what to charge. its a free country and they are free to run their businesses as they see fit. the caveat is we self distribute so we have a lot of contact with the places that get it. one of the conditions of getting cans is you have to sell your allotment before the next delivery or you will get less. this is how we make sure everyone buying cans in a store is getting them less than 4 weeks old. our libertarian approach to business rights plays out thus: if a place is charging too much for cans, and they don't sell, they will get less next time, and will either correct their prices, or go out of the business of carton cans.
as we grow and get our own line we will date cans and track and there will be more in the market which will mean people will have to pay more attention, like all the things we are discussing its a fluid plan mostly about making beers we enjoy and trying to get them in the hands of jersey beer folks with the least amount of hassle for everyone.

We have run ins because you say things like this. Augie has clearly said they are making more of the beers you are looking for. You are clearly having a harder time getting them. You say things like "there is no more hype" and "I'll go to the brewery" even though the brewery has been sold out of cans since the July 4th weekend. The guy has explained to you that they are making more, sending it out, and he is clearly working very hard to make it easy on all of us. Meanwhile you start posts alluding to shady business practices when all you're really doing is being pissed a beer you take for granted has become a whale.

We have run ins because you can't read. I said his practices aren't, the norm. I think that's a very true statement and depending on how you take it doesn't mean something negative. He has stated all of those things, but I think it's ok to disagree that it's purely because of demand. 077XX is a whale, well I missed that memo. I don't see that at all. All I'm trying to say is that if it is demand driven then maybe it makes sense to devote more energy and resources to matching the demand rather than making a Dune Fruit Prickly Cactus Pear Berliner. Don't get me wrong I love the creativity as much as the next guy, but it's summer and Boat cans haven't been available since July 11 at the brewery. I think it's fair and ok to say that for whatever the reason, that's a let down.

@augiecarton. Hey augie, thanks for doing what you're doing. You keep brewing, I'll keep drinking!

But then you ignore where Augie explained canning the Berliner meant the canned more Boat at the same time, meaning there was actually extra Boat cans because of Dune Fruit.
so it would seem your purposefully ignoring facts to down play the popularity of the beer.
No matter what you're now saying the phrasing of your first post makes Carton's business practices seem shady and that had to be on purpose. I'm not sure what your problem with Carton is but you are very carefully trying to undermine them here and you shouldn't, they are great, they are good people and important to NJ. Saying "I love Carton," "I can't get Carton," all the while insisting there is no demand for the beer makes your intentions very suspect.

I don't have a problem with Carton, love the brewery and respect Augie enough to respect his prior post and end the bantering here.

We've all said our pieces, I'm looking forward to whatever is next from them and I mean that sincerely.
