Ive been waiting to try the 2yr bourbon barrel aged version of an outstanding local brew (Valiant's Acurum) and today was the day. They were offering 1 liter growler fills to the first 30 people, so I hopped on board that train. Got my fill, had a few tasters, then put the growler in my backpack for the 5 min. ride home on my motorcycle. When I got home, I realized that in transit, the thing absolutely shattered (were talking 50 peices +). In a panic I poured the brew from my backpack into a jug (lowpoint). Im currently sipping on the rescued beer and laughing at how ridiculous today has been.

Not sure how it's literally a lowpoint, but hey, if I was excited to drink something, I'da drank it from the ground with a straw, which woulda literally been a lowpoint.

If you have been waiting 2 years to have this beer, and you finally have the chance, there is no low point.

Kind of depends on where that backpack has been. And um, did you check for glass shards? No beer is worth a trip to the ER.

I'd do the same fucking thing...literally without hesitation. Go through all that trouble and get nothing for it? No way. This is a hobby...just like if you got a rare baseball card that got drenched in a rainstorm...would you pitch it? Or try to dry that shit out? Rest easy...you made the right call.

Was it good? Aging beer in nylon canvass might be the next craze. You could be a trend setter.

Extra rare ultra exclusive 5 minute backpack aged version...Whalez bro.

Seriously though...that's dedication. I probably wouldn't have even thought to drink it after that happened.

pretty damn good. tons of bourbon character. that either killed anything nasty in my backpack, or gave me the perfect buzz to not care.

If your back pack happened to be a brown paper bag, then that might be considered a problem. I think your safe here.

Years ago I went to Maine on a hiking trip with several other people. My plan was to attend baseball games and see the Mets, Phillies, and Pirates on the way back. When I got to Philly there were several cold beers in my cooler and I had my Camelbak with me. I filled up the 3 liter bladder with beer and walked right on thru. I got hammered. Do what you gotta do.

In Philly someone who drinks 3 liters for a baseball game is considered teetotaler

    Consider this a wake-up call.
Invest in a couple of stainless steel growlers.
