    Woo hoo: I lived! Brutally hot day for a race. Despite the heat (which just killed me by the end), I finished with a very respectable time (considering I hate running, and suck at it). Pretty darn pleased.

    More than 50 breweries, including my two favorite local spots.

    And...tried 23 different beers, according to my records. 21 of them were new to me.

    Including this one: Brooklyn Quintaceratops. Selfie (ugh :slight_frown:) provides proof that I didn't die. :grinning:

    Unfortunately, such a format is not conducive to reviewing beer. I don't mind ticking a handful with notes, but I kept my notes under 150 characters to ensure that my score doesn't go into the weighted average score for the beer.

    The one exception - my first beer of the festival, and the one that was damn worth it: @Sixpoint 4Beans. This was everything I hoped it would be, and maybe more. Fantastic, fantastic brew, and I can't wait to get my hands on some cans.

    The really sad thing was how many of the reps and brewers brought old, stale IPAs - and how many of the smaller breweries struggled with diacetyl. The latter I can almost forgive; they're small, and perhaps just not very good. The former I cannot comprehend. How do you go to a craft beer festival and bring stale beer? How is that supposed to convince people to buy your product? Are you just trying to move old crap out of the way, and using this venue as an excuse? :angry:

    I nearly had to spit out a Stone Delicious. That was an egregious example, but far from the only one.

    On the plus side, my favorite local brewery, Beer'd, was a show stopper. All of their beer was kegged and fresh - and awesome, of course. I overheard many, many people mentioning that their DIPAs were the best beers at the entire festival. They also didn't run out of beer at any point - something most of those vendors couldn't claim.

    All in all, a great experience, even if I am sunburned and sore. :wink:

    Now, I'm sitting back with a bowl full of mussels and a Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. I think I've earned it.

    James Brown put on an AMAZING show on Late Night With David Letterman in July of 1982. You don't see stuff like this on tv anymore.

    Part of Fulton's "Garage Series," 300 is a single hop IPA featuring the ubiquitous Mosaic hop. Since I sweated off approximately 8,000 calories today participating in various activities, I'm pounding this delicious beer like a 10-penny nail. Have a stupendous Saturday, BA's.

    Staying on the light side. I like this better than their Rasberry version. A lot less cloyingly sweet and I'm a sucker for most anything apple flavored.

    Cleaning out my fridge again, getting rid of some leftovers (Sam Adams, Yuengling, Blue Moon). Finishing up the evening with Unibroue Trios Pistoles. Sound sleeping tonight after the Ronda Rousey fight. Go Rhonda!!!

    I kind of had that same experience with Weyerbacher's Last Chance IPA. Not really impresses with it bottled, but on draft it's a completely different beer altogether.
