Are people going to call this Dale's IPA? I hope so.
    Look forward to trying this.

Ok just a few minutes ago this add popped up on the home page for BA with this can label in the background and A METAMODERN IPA... splashed across the front of it. Wondering if this is a dig against Oasis and the trademark deal they found themselves in with NB

“The biggest thing about this beer is where the hops come from, and that is Australia,” says Tim Matthews, head of brewing operations for Oskar Blues.

It uses four varieties: Ella, which has spicy, floral notes, along with stone fruit flavors; Topaz, which has some of the piney, dank notes that American hops have; Vic Secret, an unusual hop that imparts earthy aromas, along with passion fruit and tropical notes; and Enigma, which offers raspberry and melon flavors and aromas.

We're all missing the important part about the can design - the Sturgill Simpson line up top!
@donspublic - the metamodern part is another reference. The quote comes from Sturgill Simpson album "Metamodern Sounds in Country Music" and specifically the song "Turtles All the Way Down" which was one of the best albums released last year, in my opinion.

IPA's are in no way a fad. Breweries make a lot of them because they are the most popular style of craft beer and have been for a while. If you don't like them that's certainly your prerogative, but they aren't going anywhere.

Dale's could easily have been called an IPA. Dale's pale ale simply sounded better. I'm convinced we care about style classifications way more than the breweries do.

It is a 6.4 session IPA, with the irritating hop forward, malt attenuated imbalance that the style embodies. Prefer Dale's.

I was pretty underwhelmed by Pinner and the new IPA. both are decent, but I really had high hopes for new hoppy beers from a company that produces some great ones. (Particulary G'Knight in my opinion.)

Anyway, I really liked the cocunut porter, and will continue to buy anything new from the brewery.

I really enjoyed Pinner when I tried a fresh can from the salesman. It's deliciously dank, and it's been selling like crazy at the store. Is it my personal favorite session IPA? Probably not, but I can definitely see the widespread appeal.

I just bought a 6pk of IPA tonight, 11 days old (8/10/15 can date). It's a bit thin and the flavors are somewhat muted, but what's there is definitely unique. I'm getting a crazy cherry/strawberry/raspberry flavor here that I've never tasted in a hop.

I feel like if they can amp up the flavor (no filtering? more dry-hopping?) and give it a little more body, this will be a real winner. I didn't give it a crazy high score, but for a beer that features the bleeding edge of hop strain development, it really offers an interesting look as-to what's on the horizon.

I had this at three of the Longmont/Lyons locations last weekend. I really like this ipa. I too found it to be really fruity and a big break from dale's or deviant. For me out in mass, those can get a little oniony so I really mind the dates. This one seems to indicate a willingness to go in new directions, which I like.

Also was lucky enough to try heavens hills ba ten fidy and Bolivia Newton John. Death by coconut stole my heart - easily my favorite beer I had while in Colorado.

Same thoughts on it. A little watery for my tastes. Had some sea hag afterwards and wanted my $10.50 on the six pack back. It feels like it could be good, but they need to go back to the drawing table.

FWIW, considering the Dales APA vs. IPA debate... OB has said (it was probably even Dale himself) that the beer was originally brewed to be an IPA, but when it came down to naming, they stuck with Dales Pale Ale because it has a better ring to it. So the BJCP can suck it... sometimes how to market a beer decides the style more than any numbers do.

REALLY underwhelmed by this one. The flavor falls flat on the palate. No lingering hop bite.

Ha this was the first thing I keyed in on and I'll buy it for that by itself, not to mention the fact that it'll probably be really good. Btw, that album being a masterpiece is not an opinion, it's a fact jack!

Also, here is another beer with the same reference you might be interested to see:

Oskar Blues has also put a Widespread Panic lyric ("sippin on a tallboy") on some its cans before (I think Deviant).
