It just keeps getting hotter and windier as the day goes on.

I enjoyed beer #2 during the briefest of power outages before a family dinner of ravioli and pesto. It's a slightly above average pale ale. Just a bit too one dimensional towards the hops for my liking.

One of your most entertaining NBS, and yours are ALWAYS entertaining! I would have a very difficult time consuming all three of those even if I took an entire day starting at around 7AM.

Thanks! Yeah, I had no plan (other than to drink and review 'em for NBS :stuck_out_tongue:), but I'm rolling with it...

To your other point: Good eatin' and naps! :grinning: lol

Gracious me! Those are my core formative groups as a young fellow. I remember being in London when Days of Future Past by the Moody Blues came out. I stopped by a record shop to ask if it was possible for a listen. The little punk called me an asshole American for asking. I'm generally non-confrontational, but that guy- if he is still alive- remembers every second of my response and hopefully learned a lesson in manners and retail detail.

Just returned home after a great weekend with my old college buddies and their families. A fantastic few days on the East Coast with surprisingly cool weather, cheap beer, and dealing out the same bullshit to one another that we did 25-30 years ago. At least the kids (much less the wives) were amused by the antics. Anyway, home sweet home with a regional offering: Tarasque Saison from Wiseacre Brewing:
Poured a hazy amber-orange into a snifter with a 2-finger foamy white head that retreated quickly. Aroma was yeast at first but less funky than anticipated, with some tart lemon and not much else. My first sip brought lemons, with black pepper and a hint of grain. Noticeably missing was the big floral, estery experience I'm used to with a Saison. The finish was nice with a return of the tart lemon/lime. The finish was also dry and clean with a nice soft feel. Overall a fine beer on a hot day, but less complex and entertaining than other Saisons.
I did thoroughly enjoy the can art. Cheers!

Never been that big into Evil Twin - I mean, their beer is good, but their prices aren't so great, and I always feel like I can do better for less dinero. That said, when someone slings you it for free (thanks @maz!) I am game!

16 oz can (best before yesterday... oh well) left over from a buddies family party this weekend

L - Hazy pale orange with a fluffy white head
S - Grapefruit and a hint of orange zest
T - Slightly dank with orange peel and pine. edgy bitterness on the finish
M - lighter bodied, but with fine soft carb. Quaffable.

Overall a very solid offering. It is a bit old (no idea when canned) and held up well. Would try again if I saw fresh

I really like this beer. Great saison at a reasonable price. Most saisons are not only more expensive but in large formats. Really like this one comes in four packs at 12ish bucks. I buy them any time I travel. They are currently not available in CT. Glad you also enjoyed it.

I had the Biere de Seigle. Scored it a 3.73. I prefer the one I had today. I didn't compare either to the classics from Belgium, but as beers on their own. It's a very broad style...

Yep, I was stalking it for about a week and it was $11.99 here in San Diego, but had to try it, so skipped on other stuff that I normally get. Decisions=D

Well I'm back with the first beer I had planned today and this one is for a fellow Gose fan @ONovoMexicano I got this beer this week in a trade and had been waiting for today to enjoy it . So here goes my New Gose Sunday.
This beer from de Garde is there Hose a dry-hopped aged in oak barrels with coriander and citrus peel added Gose.
This beer poured a little darker than your standard Gose perhaps due to the oak ageing. They don't say how long it was aged but there is not a strong oak flavor in the beer.
The taste to me is a solid Gose style with the coriander and perhaps a little bit to much saltiness in the taste. I didn't find much if any citrus flavor from the added citrus peel.
The mouth feel is well carbonated with a clean crisp finish.
I have enjoyed this bottle but really failed to find any oaky flavors in it. All in all a good beer in the Gose style perhaps a little to salty if I had to find a down point.

Well, I've had a few things from Trillium, and today I got to try their Summer St. for the first time:

    (Ignore the Corona, please)

Poured from the bottle into the glass you see - just a water glass. Nothing too special.

Very tasty. Look is your standard East Coast IPA hazy orange with a nice head to it. Smells like happiness. Melony, slightly lemony happiness. I didn't get the 'dank' that reviewers have had.

I won't comment on mouthfeel because I really still don't get the whole concept of it, and thus it would be useless.

Taste... is good. Very good. A little sharper than some of Trillium's other IPAs, a nice bitter bite on the backend that I really enjoyed, but it wasn't overwhelming. My Corona-drinking uncle even enjoyed it, and he was turned off by the bitterness of the last round of Enjoy By.

Overall, it's a Trillium IPA. Thus it's really, really good.

My final NBS entry today after a busy weekend. I drank and reviewed the three IPA bombers from The Devil's Trumpet I bought on Friday. This is the last of the triple crown.

Poured a lovely clear gold color like all the IPA's I sampled this weekend. Nice aroma of passion fruit, grapefruit and a mild rubber-like quality. Flavors of passion fruit, grapefruit and some alcohol. Mouthfeel is on the thin side, but better than the other two I sampled.

This was the best of the three IPA bombers I bought on Friday in my opinion. I'll definitely buy this again as it's a tasty beer and priced right at $8.99 a bomber to boot.

It is hard for me to believe I don't have a beer in the cellar I haven't tried already. However, I think that is the case. Hmmmm, not good.

Hello, NBSers, and welcome to another magnificent Sunday in Minnesota. I have a couple of offerings for my NBS brethren today. First up, this nice IPA from my home state of Indiana (at least, it was my home from 1963 - 1999; now I'm a Minnesoooootan, dontcha know?).

    look: 4 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

    Look: semi-translucent amber/orange, 2+ fingers of off-white head.

Smell: hops cubed, the Mandarina are most apparent to me.

Taste: there's a malty backbone, but the hops shine through. The citrus of the Mandarina mix nicely with the creamines of the Equinox.

Feel: a bit watery, but saved by the Equinox hop additions.

Overall: this is the 2nd in the series that I've tried, and this works very well as a summer quencher, especially at 75 IBU's. Well done by Sun King.

Good evening, NBS-ers. Pretty nice day here at Castle Rose. Sure it was a little hot, but the humidity was down a bit, nice breezes...oh yeah...and absolutely nuthin' to do...

    Todays brew:

This one's not just for the beer. Harpoon brewer Jaime Schier brewed this beer for the finish line of the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) that raises money for cancer research - lots of money. Basically after a 192 mile bicycle ride in the middle of summer, a light, refreshing beer is appropriate so that is what Harpoon has done. Jaime also rides the ride. and Harpoon has sponsored the PMC for a long time.

That nice head lingered to the very end and laced very nicely. The aroma was a bit citrusy, bicsuity, a little floral note. The taste is mild overall - some mild lemon, very laid back biscuit flavors, maybe a little grassy/floral pop mid-palate. Very light, refreshing, dry. Strikes me as lager-like in the finish. Just a touch of bitter to balance things out. Medium-bodied, moderately carbonated.

Liking the beer. It is simple and satisfying. Well made beer, has nice flavor, light and refreshing. I can see this at the finish line doing what it is intended to do - refreshing cyclists at the end of a long haul. Or even refreshing a guy sitting on his patio on a (sorta) hot day.
