Curious to hear others thoughts. I am a big NS fan, but $20 for basically a drink ticket, plastic cup, and coozie is too rich for my blood. I would definitely feel different if the price included a bottle.....

I'll be out of town that day. Will they sell out of the everweisse during the event or is there a chance of it at the brewery a day or two after the event?

"We'll also have Ever Weisse bottles for sale - guaranteed availability of at least one bottle purchase for every guest; no quantity limit on total Ever Weisse bottle purchases"

Sounds to me like there will be plenty to go around after the event...

This seems completely reasonable to me. You are also paying to go to the party (think of it as a door cover charge) with "live music, local artists, food trucks, cornhole, arcade games, 9-square-in-the-air, locally roasted coffee" / "games, vendors, food trucks, and live music all happening throughout!"

When you go to a county fair, you pay to enter, and don't get any drink tickets. Same thing at many bars playing live music.

Would be fun to try the beer and grab a bottle, but for $20 I'll pass. If they removed the music and games, and instead made it free to attend (no tickets, swag, etc) I may reconsider going.

Parking was a bit tricky with the NSBS extra bottles this year. It has also been tough with little league games.. I was really looking forward to Ever, but I'm not sure I would be able to get in and out of there with 1000 people descending on the area.

Does this usually sell out right away? Would prefer to swing by on that Monday for a couple bottles.

So can I just show up at like 2 and just buy my bottles of ever weisse then leave?

I want to bring my dog, who happens to be stroller bound, does he need a ticket?

It's the EXACT same deal at Harpoon fest. $20, gets you a cup and a drink.

You're paying to enjoy drinking awesome beer at a huge outdoor party. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with the cost, but it seems fairly standard to me as well.

Harpoon doesn't(to my knowledge anyway) mix in a bottle release with it. It's cool to have a party. I'm sure there's people who would prefer not to go to a party but would still want to buy the beer.

It sounds like there will be plenty of bottles though?

It's a $20 bet that there will be bottles left on after the party, seems reasonable to me. I don't have any info on batch size ect.

Kind of crappy of NSB to only sell Ever Weisse at the event, essentially forcing people who are interested in buying a bottle to get that $20 for it. It's one of my favorite beer of theirs but there's no way in hell I'm dropping $20 to get the right to then pay for a bottle. Efffff that.

Hopefully the bottles will remain available at the brewery, after the event

I'm sure @masterob8 will let us know, as NS has been consistently great about communication and transparency on this site. Maybe they'll let you show up and buy a bottle on Saturday and leave if you don't want to go to the party?

From the Night Shift Facebook post announcing the event:

Q: Will the ever weisse only be available that day, or do you anticipate having it available overt the week after as well?
Night Shift Brewing: Tough to predict. It's totally possible that all bottles will be gone due to this block party. If there are leftover they will be for sale till they are gone.

Hey all - $20 covers the $10 worth of swag/draft pour and then the rest goes to the cost of putting an event of this size on. Police details, fencing, tent and table rentals, port-o-potties, etc. We aren't trying to get rich by forcing people to spend $20 on a ticket. In fact it's looking like $10 a head won't even cover all our costs.

We decided to do this big event because we envisioned it to be fun. Celebrating local businesses, the summer, local music and good beer. Instead of a release where people come and buy bottles to hoard or trade away they actually come and enjoy the company of friends and new found friends/beer geeks. If that's not your style, then so be it.

We haven't finished packaging all the beer yet but we anticipate having roughly 4,000 bottles. If everyone at the party buys 4 bottles then we will sell out. Obviously not everyone will do that but some wil buy a case and others will be 2 bottles. If any bottles remain after the event they will be on sale in the taproom starting at 5pm that Saturday 8/22.

    Cheers,
    Rob

To be fair, anyone who is looking to hoard or grab cases to trade will probably not mind paying $20 for the privilege to do so and likely could care less about the festivities. For someone like me who would otherwise buy a bottle or two and hang out with friends at a normal release, it is just not worth $20 to be guaranteed the ability to do so, coozie and cup aside.

I am not trying to crap on the event, just a bit disappointed that it is not more of a typical release sans entry fee.

9 times out of 10, I would rather go to an event like this for a beer release (which is actually priced very well IMO; Harpoon doesn't even give you swag and the beer is normal flagship, meh stuff) than wait in line all day listening to people talk about who makes the best beers.
