Probably 0 and 50 for me. Pretty wide range.

At one point my cellar had 200+ bombers/750 mLs, not including a few smaller-sized bottles. I felt this was too excessive, and am now down to more like around 150. Much more modest. If it got below 100, I would probably become upset. So top ~200, bottom ~100.

However, it's not as if I even count the bulk of them as a mass and think "shi't, if it gets below 100, I'm in danger of running out!" It's more a case of trying to maintain a sufficient number of a decent variety of beers from various cellarable styles so that I can sample individual beers I have multiples of over the months without running out before they get like three years old. So I won't look at the overall number, but I try to make sure I save at least two or three bombers of each particular beer (for each vintage) down there. And I like to maintain good variety, so... beer adds up.

Also (speaking of non-cellarable things), there must always be like at least six or so IPAs and a small assortment of German wheat ales on hand at all times. Or else.

My beer fridge usually has anywhere between 25 and 50 beers in it.
If it gets low, it takes a 10 minute drive to replenish it.
I could not imagine panicking over beer.

I don't panic unless a major blizzard is blowing in. Then I go out and buy enough to be at at least case level.

The news programs always show the panicked shoppers buying milk and bread. I can't be the only beer shopper.

I do not have the self control to have a single case let alone 100. Id never leave the house lol. I started about a single beer a night or every 2-3 days (bomber) because id drink 3-4 out of a sixer than two days later im back in the store. People say dam you only got 7 beers and it was 35$ ? You could have bought a 30 case N i just say well if you do the math its still less than a pack a day smoker haha. Ive come to enjoy quality over quantity

Yeah, this sounds more accurate by my personal experience. I have probably 25 or so beers in our main fridge, another 30 in a beer-only fridge, and then another 150-ish bottles in shipper boxes on the basement floor. Between those 200-some total beers is a mix of singles, bombers and 750s.

And your girlfriend might be right, especially if you are moving any kind of distance whatsoever. I was lucky enough to have several of the heavy-duty styrofoam wine shipper boxes to get my collection from Kansas to Michigan (gave me the peace of mind to let the moving company take probably 90% of the collection), and I still put in some work trying to taper down the total before our move.

At move time, I probably had the total down to 150 bottles in all. The scary part is how quickly I was able to get that total back up over 200.

Kidding (mostly), but I like the concept, OP. I can definitely relate to the (T) level more, which for me is about 7-8 singles and 3-4 bombers worth of hoppy stuff. Any more than that and I get a little panicky. And then thirsty. And then the panic starts to subside for some reason..

I might have some of the smaller numbers here...

    B - 3
    T - 14

I have a small fridge and I like to keep things in this range, that way I have tight control over all the freshness dates.

B = used to be the fridge door which holds 10 bottles, now it has spilled over to a shelf which holds another 12, so: 22
T = used to be the aforementioned shelf, now the cupboard which has space for another 8 bottles (I need to keep food in there as well) so 30... I think I need to cut back... :stuck_out_tongue:

I will save a few Bourbon County bottles each year to drink on Christmas of the next few years. I put them in the back of my cellar, which conveniently doubles as my closet.

Maybe if I buy a four pack of something, I'll put a couple bottles in the closet to try a few months later than the first one, but mostly I just buy beer to drink it, not look at it and congratulate myself on my buying and looking skills. Then when I notice that I'm out of beer, I go to the store and buy some more if money allows.

    This "panicking" stuff is ridiculous.

OK. I have about 300-400 bombers/high ABV small bottles in my cellar (most are stouts, etc that can be aged). I have a full sized fridge with about 30-40 bombers and about 100 12 oz bottles/cans. IPA'S are about 20-25 of the smaller bottles and 15-20 of the bombers. No panic here though. Drink up my fellow BA's!

Bottom is likely around 50 but it is hard to say as my collection growth outpaces my time allotted for drinking, sadly enough. Top seems to be an unknown as of yet.....I'll report back if I ever get there. I think I am somewhere around 200 bottles but am honestly just not sure.

People actually panic over not having beer? I would panic if I didn't have food, but not beer. Can do without it.

Renting an apartment, I don't really have any beer stored... or the room for it :slight_frown:

Although I do have enough for the impending apocalypse ... if it were to last 2 weeks.
