Short's Pub-Only Bottle Release

I could see the tartness throwing people who aren't into Sour/Gose type beers, but that's one of the reasons I loved it so much. It's just such a great contrast to the juicy sweetness and the hop bitterness. Ignore that ignorant bastard.

 

Guess I'll throw my 2 cents in and say I wasn't a big fan. Someone else said this was like an imperial Freedom of 78... to me this beer was a closer to the Shorts Anniversary Ale, fruity/tart with a bitter finish. Might just be my screwy palate but I didn't get a ton of sweet. Overall I'm glad I got to try it and glad most people seem to be loving it, this is a typical Shorts beer for me in that some I love, some I don't care as much for but it's always an interesting experience.

I was so excited for this one and it's the only time I've ever been let down by Short's. It just wasn't for me. Would have been hard for me to finish the entire bottle (shared it with a buddy).

That guy is out of control though. You'll never buy another Short's beer again because you didn't like one of their Stache Series beers? That's like condemning a Thai restaurant and putting them on blast via social media upon finding out that you don't like their homemade plum sauce. Just order the Pad Thai and sit down.

 

Will likely be at Shorts on July 15th...anyone know if any pub-only releases then?

 

Drank an island chomper last night. It was hard for me to finish, much more tart and fruit than I expected. I'm not a fan of sours or gose beers, so there is that. I was really expecting a nice tropical ipa, and that's not what I got haha. Can't win em all.

 

I can see people expecting a sweeter beer since it was advertised as a "fruit punch IPA". But I love Freedom so I love Island Chomper even more. It's probably my second favorite Short's beer, after only Stache Bender.

 

all releases have been on the weekend so probably not. there should be some great pub only stuff on tap though and some good live music.

 

Finally got to try this thanks to @JohnnieNepal and it is exactly what I was thinking it was going to be. Definitely closer to Anny Ale than Freedom in terms of tartness and a fruit bomb, but that is a greathing IMO. I love gose and sour ales in general, so I am really digiin what Short's is doing for these Private Stache series beers.

 

This is a fantastic beer! I enjoyed every drop and agree that its nothing like Freedom (I dont like freedom)..The guy who posted that is a typical #newmoney moron...

 

I scored a Chomper thanks to @BEERschlitz - with all this controversy in excited to try it. I do like gose and sour beers so thinking it'll be up my alley.

 

Will be in Bellaire August 24th. Hoping the next Private Stache is released close to then!
