What makes you like a WBAYDN post?

    I have been thinking about making this thread for a little while, and a few WBAYDN participants were discussing it today. I wanted to leaver he definition of like open, and not specifically mean "makes me click 'Like'", but what do you like to see in a WBAYDN post?

    I thought about making it a poll (because stats are cool :astonished:), but it seemed forced.

    For me, it varies day to day, but generally any of:
    • If you give a brief story about the situation around the drink in your hand or your day in general
    • If you give me some information about the beer (not necessarily a full review, but more than "this rocks!")
    • If you are conversing with someone else about something that interests me, especially with humor
    These posts are the most enjoyable to me. Generally I will also officially "like" them as well, but I will "like" posts for many more reasons than these.

    Your thoughts?

    I will like it if it is a beer I have had and enjoyed before, or if it is something I have been wanting to try for a while, or if it is a really awesome picture (usually @DoctorZombies because they have a pool)

    Your first two bullets are my main criteria. I also "like" for animals and the regulars.

    If I like the actual beer = 50%
    The quality, style, and attitude of the picture = 50%

    • If it's a beer I like/want to try
    • If the person mentions watching a movie/show/sports team that I like
    • If the accompanying music is rad
    • If the beer is paired with awesome food (bonus for pictures)
    • If the post is funny

    There's alot. And a little.
    Have had the beer and loved it.
    Haven't had the beer and have wanted to try it.
    Beer looks funky/interesting, thanks have to try.
    Review of beer on WBAYDN entices me to buy.
    Great narrative and or story.
    Great pics.
    Great music.
    Respected friend or knowledgeable reviewer.
    It's Friday and I'm just having fun. Won't pull the trigger on nothing though.....
    And well there has to be some substance........of a sort.

    1. The beer must be something I've had and I like.
    2. There must be a pic of said beer. You don't have to be a photog wiz and have a nice background and such. Just a pic of the beer

    Well...ahem. Since I know the convo that inspired this....:rolling_eyes: I will give my two cents. I don't like every Post because if I've never had the beer how do I know I like the beer? Or if I disagree with the post say... "This Peche Mortel tastes like coffee shit"! Guess what? Not going to like it. I will post silly stuff because that's how I am naturally. Well that's the simple formula...or if I sense a sarcastic post that some don't understand.

    I'm going to come off as a smart ass here, but weather or not I like it is what will make me click like. There's no set criteria. That's what I like about that thread everyday. The rules are relaxed. It's much less stiff. It's a bunch of guys well on their way to being shit faced posting pictures of beer intermixed with random music videos with no real point behind it. Just let it be what it is without over thinking things.

    Seriously, if you take the time to post something and include a picture I will probably like it. Everyone's tastes are different so I don't care what your review is or what beer you are drinking. If you are posting a pic and joining in I will like it. Never know who you'll start a conversation with.

    I usually "like" everything. Sure some beers and some photos are more impressive than others. But mostly all the posts are positive and BAs are just sharing what they are drinking at the moment. Also it does take a little effort to take the photo, transfer it, then post it. (Most of the time with someone beside you wondering why you are taking a picture of a glass.) So for for this simple reason I click "like".

    Any of the following:

    It's a beer I really like, respect, or wish to try.

    The picture quality or setting is striking. Artistic photos, wilderness settings, a perfect capture of the brew in a glass, etc.

    The poster is someone I consider a friend on BA.

    The post has something else that catches my interest: great looking food; great music; an interesting story, beer review, or anecdote.

    The poster is not someone I know, but I want to encourage their participation. This goes especially to people who are new to BA, new to WBAYDN?, or who does not post a picture (as pics automatically generate more likes). I like to encourage people to continue to participate, and make them feel welcome.

    ...Hell, it looks like it would be a shorter list to go over what doesn't get a like from me. :slight_smile:

    I try not to give it too much thought. If a post generates enough positive emotion for me, I will like it. I think that is the extent to which I can describe it.
