What makes you like a WBAYDN post?

Usually a mutual beer that I enjoy or a great picture. Oh yeah, and also if I enjoy the music

 

good beer
good comments (serious, humor, whatever)
tunes you're digging
critters
quality pics
Whatever, because I'm up for that.

 

All of these, so I guess for shits and giggles?

I've learned a lot about beer by frequenting WBAYDN and then looking up every offering I don't recognize, so I give likes out to promote more postings/exploration, especially when it's noobs like me. You old-timers don't need as much encouragement

 

If your post makes me thirsty you get a like. Lots of other reasons, covered already, but if I feel like hitting the cellar after seeing your post you get a like.

 

I get what you mean but how many people are going to post every single beer from a tasting DURING the tasting

 

I am notoriously horrible when it comes to attention span, yet I don't want to come across as non-participatory when it comes to recognizing participation through 9 or 17 pages, so I will do my due diligence and scan for initial posts and "like" them for content, which is very basic. If you are telling me what you are enjoying I will end up liking it, because after all, that's why I come here. Like it's an online bar - some folks talk a bunch, others sit back and listen. I won't typically pay too much attention to someone's reply or quote to another because it's their conversation unless they've countered with music or pix that catch my eye. Dogs will almost unanimously gather my attention, so that's easily liked. As for music, I don't "dislike" (or avoid liking) just because I don't like the music. Everyone has different tastes, and God knows I do as well. Finally, like others have mentioned, I am always excited to encourage new posters.

From my participation, I'd like to see myself commit to being more informative on what I am drinking and give off at least a little effort in explaining the beer more than I have in the past, but I fear that I don't open up a ton personally because I don't want to assume that anyone really wants to hear about it. So I'll typically just wax on so very briefly about my day and/or what unique circumstance has led to my joining the party. If I do have an interesting beer related day (visit to a brewery) I do like to try and post a few pix of that.

 

Generally if I've had the beer, I 'like' the post. Also, great photography, a beer I really want, and a good song also warrant a 'like'.

 

First and foremost, a PICTURE. I've seen too many posts which talk about drinking some whale but no pic! Not saying you're being disingenuous about anything but if you're drinking an Assassin, for example, wouldn't you WANT to take a pic of it and post it here? Just sayin'...

 

Great picture, great background, something unusual, great or interesting best

 

Well, when I'm at work and my employers firewall blocks all but 5% of the pictures, I'm liking any of those I can see, half in support of BAers and half to thumb my nose at the man

Automatic like (for the most part):

• Liking the beer or finding it interesting in any way.
• Same for music (also cool stuff I haven't heard)
• Most banter accompanying the photo
• Animals, faces, scenery, hints of people's actual lives
• Humor
• Food/pairings/cooking
  
• Any hint of creativity in how the picture is set up
  
• Sideways, blurry, etc.

Never like:

• Anything that specifically says 'yesterday'. Since I perceive these to just be fishing for likes I choose to ignore the fact that others may do the same thing and just not say it.

Honesty is the best policy. I love thinking about the fact that I there are people all over the world drinking beer at the same time as me and this kind of spoils the mood. Maybe I'm just being a dick, though. I hope not, since that's a bannable offense.

 

Seems I "like" a lot, even posts with no photos - I enjoy seeing what people are drinking and what they are doing that day. I used to be a regular in a couple of bars and enjoyed the people there...now I get to enjoy drinking with many people daily on this site. Thanks, and Cheers!

-A beer I want to try, BUT it can't be a humble brag (ie: Heres a VBDL that I cracked on a random tuesday night for no reason)
-Pictures of beers that I like
-Pictures with dogs



NEVER Like:
-Post showing a sunny background at 4am in the morning.

 

Exactly where I am with this. Bars are not part of my life any longer for the most part and as a result, I miss the interaction with the other regulars. That's why WBAYDN and NBS have become my panacea for both the hectic nature of and humdrums of day in day out living.

 

If I like or want the beer, or if it's a cool/funny picture or story, it gets a like from me....or any Buffalo sports team representation

 

Like if:
-It is a beer that I've had and enjoyed/rated highly
-It is a beer that I want to try
-It is a stout of pretty much any variety (because it is probably something I want to try)

I'd love to do this as well but only can when my wife is not home. It was hard enough for her to accept the fact that I post pictures of beer, but she caught me posting a picture of a sammich one day and wouldn't let me live it down. She didn't come right out and call me the "h" word, but commented that it looked like something a hipster would do. Not gonna lie, that hurt. A lot. So basically, if you ever see a post from me with food it's either because she's not home or I could sneak one in while she was in the other room!
