Ok so which is the better way to go BA's? You get 21 beers per week, is it better to drink 3 per day or none per day Mon thru Thur and 21 beers Fri, Sat Sun?

    Here's my wife's answer regardless...

"Are you really going to have another beer?"

With college and pro football on the horizon, 21 on the weekend is a no brainier

This is beer advocate so your answers will be biased. But according to the medical establishment , 1 to 2 a day is ok, anything after 2 in a day is damaging. We are talking about 5% ABV as the baseline. Also, to me, depends how old you are. Straight out of college binge drinking compared to someone who is 50 not the same thing.

Take 'good for you' with a grain of salt, but I think that doing it all on the weekend is pretty widely agreed to be worse for you. Only one way to find out...

It's the weight gain that will keep you to some kind of limit. Two a day any style is how I do it. Every now and then I do go over. But if I skip desserts then this works for me.

21 beers? Wow, that's a lot of beer. I would stretch our that consumption to three per day. Much better for the body (and your palate) that way. Additionally, you'll probably be able to appreciate it better. Remember we're in it for the long haul.

3 a day spaced out through the day.

I have never been a fan of drinking till I cannot function. Done it twice and hated it both times.

In theory my "semi-retirement" should allow me to voluntarily have 21 beers Monday-Thursday and 21 beers Friday-Sunday. In reality the spouse says, "one beer is acceptable, two beers are questionable and any more is a downright disaster". Welcome to my world.

I suppose a conversation like this should begin with how we're defining "beer." A couple of 4-6% English pale ales, Marzens, session IPAs in 12-16 oz. sizes? Less of an issue, methinks. Several 10-12% imperial stouts or barleywines in 22 oz. sizes? Well...

Since I tend to drink the latter, it's no wonder why I consume a smaller volume of beer.

Assuming you work for a living a beer or two when you have to work the next day and the rest when you don't.

As much as a lot of us would like to disagree with her, sounds like in general her assessment is right on the money.

I think generally accepted ABV when medical profession refers to one drink is 5%.

1 or 2 on weeknights; 2 or 3 per day on weekends; That's 9 - 16 per week. Some weeks would be even less. The rest are selected for the cellar or consumed by guests watching football.
