Personally, I don't want to hear any of you being loud and foul-mouthed, whether there are kids around or not.

An adult who can't control their volume or their language is much more likely to ruin my experience than anything a child does. Being in a bar does not give one carte blanche to be obnoxious.

The responses in this thread thus far confirm to me that southern hospitality and manners are a myth

Loud and obnoxious are one thing. Cussing while talking to your buds is another.

However I do agree that cursing should be kept to a minimal.

My kids have probably been too more quality breweries than a lot of the beer geeks on this site. Lol

Don't mind kids at family-friendly places until about 6-7 so long as they're not ill behaved. Once dinner time hits, I don't think kids should be allowed.

Just a personal opinion. This is coming from someone without kids, FWIW.

I have a 5 year old daughter and she's gone with me to both Hay Merchant for a late lunch and Petrol Station for a late dinner. At Hay Merchant I didn't even get a glance, but at Petrol Station around 8pm, I had an old lady ask to speak to me privately to tell me that my daughter should be in bed and not at a bar. I explained to her that we were meeting her aunt and uncle for dinner and that I was only having one half-pint with my food but she did not care whatsoever. I'm okay with kids in bars, but I am not okay with parents getting drunk around their kids no matter the setting.

I saw someone mention San Antonio and when I took the family for a vacation there was a great spot with an actual playground, an outside draft bar as well as an indoor bar and kitchen. It was great! I would love a place like that here in Houston.

I'm usually a before 6 pm with my kids at breweries, but if someone said that to me, I'd promptly tell them to fuck off.

Bars are not specifically adult places if the law allows it. If the place is just a straight up bar, no real food, odds are I'm not going anyway I do try to avoid bars that look like they are full of immature drunks with or without my kids...

the hess brewing tasting room seriously has a little kid's corner with chairs and puzzles and legos and whatnot. only problem is, it's right next to the bar so i can only imagine a few tikes have had full pints spilled on them accidently...

Definitely depends on a number of factors, which is kinda why I deliberately asked a black and white poll question, to cut out all the shades of gray. Ultimately, all the factors can be distilled down to bottom line, should kids be allowed in bars, which I think everybody can answer either yes or no.
This gets at a good line in the sand. As others have mentioned, about dinner/dark is when the kids should start heading home. My toddler takes a bath around 6:30, so that works for us.

You're at a bar, so you can't expect it to be the Children's Museum, but kids should be able to assimilate to the environment without turning into a purple minion. But once the sun goes down, I think most people can reasonably expect to have a child free evening round the pub.
