Maybe you have a different distributor than we do, because I'm not seeing it. It's not showing up at too many places on BeerMenus, either, unfortunately.

A couple of months ago I tried to order it, and it wasn't available, but maybe that's changed now. I'll try again next week- that's a beer I'd love to get.

I read that the Liberty Ale was introduced into cans this year. I'm wondering how wide the distro is for these? I see the California Lager in cans numerous places but haven't seen the Liberty cans. Anyone seen these in the Eastern half of the country?

I've re visited anchor now with their new series of 4 packs and cans. Very tasty stuff the variety 6 pack had two of each ipa, liberty and California lager.

the double liberty is a solid example of the style and may get another pack.

I've seen a small amount of places advertise that they had the cans, and I only saw them in one store that I shop at.

I absolutely agree. Anchor Brewing is one of my favorites, and their beers are always solid, IMHO. I love their signature fruity yeast character and the crisp hoppiness that many of their beers display. Their recent Winter Wheat blew me away, and Old Foghorn is sublime. Plus, fresh cans of Liberty Ale and their California Lager were a real treat this summer. Can't get enough.

Just tried the fancy new Brotherhood Steam beer and was quite impressed, though I would still say regular Steam is better even though it is much more subtle.
I would have to say that Brekle's Brown is my favorite though. Early in my craft drinking days that was one of my favorite beers, but unfortunately I havent seen it in NJ for years. Anyone know what the deal is with that? I know it's not retired. Do they just not ship it to NJ anymore?

Lager and IPA. But for the IPA I have to say that the first one I tried was very fresh and blew me away, then I had a 4 month old one and it was just ok. I only buy cans so does someone know what their freshness code decipher is? It appears different from the bottles.

Subtlety and Balance are two things that many "craft" brews lack...which seems pretty ironic to me considering that these two qualities are the mark of true skill and craft in he art of brewing (as opposed to the palate numbing over-the-top flavors which, while they can definitely be appealing at times, are much easier to brew) .

About a year ago I was working in a film that was shooting in Brooklyn. When we wrapped for the day, I wandered into a local bar that featured some craft beers on draft, including a few more or less local products that I hadn't had before. They kindly gave me 2oz samples of a number of them to try.
After which, I ordered a pint of Anchor Steam.
It was, hands down and without question the superior choice.

When Flying Cloud first came out, Anchor's beer finder didn't include it just yet. This thread made me take another look at their site, and the Argonaut beers are now part of their finder... but only as a collective series. A store not far from where I work was listed. I swung by and they had Double Liberty but not Flying Cloud. The cashier commented that they just got them in. I'm one Double Liberty into the four-pack, and it leaves an awesome first impression. Try Anchor's site and follow up with some calls and maybe you'll track down Flying Cloud.

You guys know I am an "Anchor head", and love the brewery and their beers.....I have had a terrible time finding any of the Argonaut beers in NE Ohio.....I found the Flying Cloud stout in NJ some months ago when it first came out and bought several 4 pks....just this past weekend found the long sought after Double Liberty in Chicago while there for a wedding....I even contacted Anchor directly and communicated with a "local rep", who has not been all that helpful; many distributors see Anchor as some old timey beer co. and do not know the history and following this company has in the beer world....sad! Several beer stores I frequent on a very regular basis here either carry zero Anchor beers or just Steam only, and that's it....very strange!

I had never tried Anchor's Porter before, but tried it after reading through this thread with the near universal sentiment among posters that it is one of the best/underrated porters/beers out there. It resulted in a drain pour for me as I could not pick up on a single flavor or aroma other than apple sauce, and I know that the beer was properly stored (at least after delivery to the store). What am I missing? I can't picture myself enjoying this beer unless I reduced it and slathered it on pork chops.
