New glarus is such a fantastic place. They truly are world class when in comes to releases and hospitality. I was speaking with Deb just waiting for pizza. Such a wonderful person and a great business women, Dan is always so welcoming the few times I've spoken with him. All in all, can't wait for the fall R&D.

As far as that chick with "16 bottles" I ran into her as well. I'll be honest, I was like, cool, I really don't care. I think we all exploit the system one way or another but maybe not to that extreme. Honestly getting to speak with Deb as long as I did was so much better then hoarding bottles......

No...we don't all exploit the system one way or another. Some people go through the line once or four times, other people don't.

First time for a NG R&D release. Went on Saturday, got there about 830 bottles securily in car around 9. They seriously have it down perfectly. Ill second some others and think space has alot to do with it. Also thought it was extremly cool they let everyone continue to bottle share in their beer garden. Was hoping for more fruit in Oct. but will definately be making the trip back.

If only every brewery could run their releases like NG and Side Project.

The only thing I think NG could do better is having a better ticket/proof of purchase process. Too many people changing clothes and washing off their hands, or just waiting 2 hours and getting back in line. That's how it goes, and it sucks people do it, but there are other breweries that prevent this at releases.

I know its a problem but I really dont think that that many people do it. There releases are the perfect mix of everything. Plus there are always people who will cheat the system. I got my 2 and I am more than happy about it. Im not going to let others decisions effect my day (not saying that you are). Karmas a bi##h.

So few people abuse the system that it really doesn't matter. And the few who do will always find a way, no matter how it's done. These are sad little people who aren't worth planning around.

Well done release. Looking forward to the next.

On what was supposed to be the busiest day, bottles lasted well past the on-sale time so I have a hard time believing many, if any, people were going back multiple times. The running of these releases somehow keeps improving on what is already a great system, and I was able to get what I came for quickly and easily without having to be up at ungodly hours...so maybe I'm in the minority but I just don't feel a need to worry about people who may have ended up with a couple extra bottles.

The fact that bottles were still available hours after the onsale time each of the three days is the very reason people kept going back in line for extra bottles. They then had the opportunity to do this. If the bottles had sold out at the time of the sale, this would have meant a smaller window of opportunity.

You may have missed the above post where someone ended up with 16 bottles across the three days. I think the double dippers (triple dippers as well) were more prevalent than you might think. I saw two each day I was there & I was on the grounds for all of 20 mins each time. You gotta remember these people who go back are sneaky SOBs.

I didn't observe anyone double dipping but a guy openly told me he had done it in casual conversation yesterday. For the previous release I was behind multiple people who were openly talking about doing it at the release itself.

I don't think it's just a couple people doing it, there are just too many anecdotal stories.

I talked to a woman at GTMW who said she went through the line 5 times. I was amazed that she thought that was something to brag about.

Yeah but I'd rather have that than to have to be there at 5 am for fear of missing out.

At Wild Peach, I had a guy offer me money to go back through the line again because Deb recognized him & wouldn't let him go through again...I just looked at him & said "seriously?"

No need to fear! I know Deb personally and talked to her about the double/triple or more dippers. Apparently multiple I.D. scanners were ordered and the system was ALMOST live for this release and said by the last R&D in October the process will be implemented. Scott May (Deb's son in law) also confirmed this.

I don't mind the people who go through twice on a slow day like a Thursday, it's the people that go through four or five or more times that piss me off.

What I get a kick out of is that the majority of these 'extra' bottles aren't likely for personal consumption at all. Rather they are either put up for trades or sent to their buddies in their little trading groups, as their buds almost certainly pull the same crap for limited releases in their region. I'm probably alone in my opinion but beer trading has been the root of most problems within craft beer (mostly with respect to releases).

I agree with you. It is most likely always for those reasons and rarely just for consumption since many times like Wild Barrel, you have no idea what it even tastes like yet you're going through five times. I can say that I had one right away when I got home Thursday, and was so amazed by it. A friend got me two more on the Saturday when I was there and probably will be one of the first times I won't trade away any of it (maybe one or something) and just enjoy them for myself and see how they age.
