Hello, Michigan BA's! I am going to be spending a few weeks in the Southgate/Taylor area for work. Could someone put me on a nice liquor store? Also, is there any local MI beers I should be looking for? Thanks for your help! Proost!

Get some No Rules from Perrin Brewing if you can find it Mike. Best thing around right now in bottles for sure. Can't help you on a liquor store around that area though as I'm in GR. @beer-wheezy , @Runninmixz , @Ckoz , any info on that area and good bottle shops? Help Mike out, great guy. GL man!

    Discount Drinks in Wyandotte.
    Merchants in Dearborn.

I 2nd Merchants. Not too familiar with that area but that's the one that came to mind. Little bit north of Southgate

I third Merchants. The Southgate/Taylor are is a bit out of my 'hunting' range, but I have been to Merchants a few times and they have an extensive selection. It is a pretty popular craft beer/liquor/wine spot, so I wouldn't get your hopes up for finding any hidden whales, though they will have a good selection of Michigan-only and other crafts.

Merchants in Dearborn, Discount Drinks in Wyandotte and Vreeland Market in Brownstown. They all have a good selection and grab some stuff from Shorts while you are in Michigan. Cheers

Slightly off topic, but I can't really speak for bottle shops downriver anyhow... If you're going to be looking for some after work beers give the Oak Cafe a try in Wyandotte a try. Great neighborhood bar with an extremely solid tap list.

Casa Del Vino and Top shelf liquor in Trenton are great stores not many know about and are both really close. Merchants is good, but your going to pay a premium.

I'll second Discount Drinks and definitely the Oak Cafe - the gold standards in that area. The Rockery - which is right down the street from the Oak usually has an ecclectic draft list as well.

Some other options as far as craft bars include Bierkeller and Pete's Place - both of those in the 40 tap range respectively.

Good craft shops if you're not going to drive to Wyandotte would include Cordial Shoppe in Taylor and the others mentioned above.

Johnny Mac's in Wyandotte on Eureka has a really good selection as well.

Another vote for Oak Cafe. I always try hitting it up when I'm in that area.

This is all you need to know. If you feel like driving a ~40 minutes North, I like Holiday Market in Royal Oak. I'm also about 40 minutes from Toledo which opens up all sorts of stuff we can't get here and I usually hit up Andersons.

Great call on the Oak Cafe, BA's. I really appreciate the heads up!
