I have a wine stopper that s very pointed with a rubber stopper seal when pushed down t makes a great seal so much that when i go back in an hour or so i get a whoosh when taking the stopper out

If the cap is not bent too much when opening, you can usually pop it back on. It won't be a perfect seal, but certainly good enough to get you through until the 2nd pour.

This. Not the exact model I have, but same idea.

    I have these ...

Wine and Champagne stoppers by Food Network. Place on top of your bomber and twist the stopper until it seals inside the neck of the bottle. Works every time. Sold in a set of two; I found them at Kohl's a couple of years back. I hope this helps you!
They're just like the Rabbit sealers @pagriley posted above.

I wish I had the willpower required to need a stopper.

I use wine stoppers for 750mls of high abv stouts (bruery stouts, speedway variants, etc), they work perfectly and I can enjoy them over a few days. You'll lose a little carbonation but the flavor stays

Wait a sec, if people drink growlers over the course of a few days, then why not stopped bottles? Chemically it's all the same reactions.

    Ditto.

Of course, more often than not I just say 'eh,' yank the stopper out and finish it off before I go to bed anyway.

I've used the rubber, pointed stoppers designed for wine bottles before, with great success.

I just use a wine bottle stopper and never have a problem, even when leaving it until the next day

Does the Hermetus fit both type of bottles' mouths? i.e. 22s & 750s?

A bit tricky if it's corked, but otherwise it should

I'd say a wine-stopper and some plastic wrap should keep things fresh enough.

Mine tend to leak CO2 even with cellophane.

Hence why I don't like large format bottles, they're inconvenient.

I'm pretty sure I've used it for both without an issue

That's interesting...I've used a variety of different stoppers and even the bottle cap and it's always worked just fine for up to 24 hours. I've lost carbonation with IPAs and such, but with high gravity BA beers and the like, any stopper seems to work fine. Those tend not to be very high in carbonation anyway.

I use this one the most, which is quite tight fitting due to the flexible rubber material: http://www.kmart.com/oxo-2-pack-colored-wine-stoppers/p-011W008409315001P

It's pretty much the most basic version imaginable but works great.
