OP said beers, not "beers."

Anything Maine (I feel like I hate on them a lot, but again they're not bad, I just don't really understand the hype or pricepoints), Surly Furious (it's good but nothing special), Founders KBS (beyond overrated and overhyped and may seriously be Founders worst limited/specialty release, though, again, it isn't bad), Upland "lambics" (far too high of a price, incredibly one-note, and frankly an insult to the term "lambic"), De Garde Bus (absolutely delicious beers but very one-note and almost offensively tart sometimes), and I'm sure there are others that just aren't coming to mind right now.

I figured this thread would be more about styles of beer and not specific beers. This kinda seems like a restated version of the "Overrated" or "Overhyped" threads, but the one I thought I was entering has existed before as well, so carry on.

I'm going to go ahead and throw in gueuze in general. Not because I don't like it — both times I've tried it I thought it was very interesting, though not my favorite — but because, to my palate, it tastes almost nothing like (conventional) beer. So I'm just surprised that so many beer drinkers also happen to love gueuze. There should be more of a divide there, I feel.

not really inspired to do so, I suppose if that's not what you like in a beer then it's fair

First of all, I don't understand what you mean on beers vs "beers."

Secondly, I thought the same thing about maine beer co. until I had Lunch on tap and then my brain exploded with what an IPA could be.

Last, you quote KBS as a beer you didn't get even as you rated it a 4.97 and said (FROM YOUR REVIEW), "Overall: Easily (and unsurprisingly) worth the hype." I don't know how you can say it is a beer you didn't get while you gave it ON YOUR RANKINGS a near perfect score and described it as worth the hype. It can't be both overhyped and worth the hype!

Are you just being fussy, what's the deal?

Sculpin. Not because it's not a good to very good beer it's just not any better than about 5 or 6 other west coast IPA's I can think of that cost three bucks less per 6 pack on average.

That was a joke based on the fact that Not Your Father's Root Beer is really more Zima and less SNPA on the beer spectrum. Sort of a malternative, really.

I had Lunch on tap about a month ago. It was good (4.1-4.2ish) but not quite as good as many of my favorite IPAs (Trillium's offerings, Alpine Nelson, Toppling Goliath stuff, Todd the Axeman, the list goes on...). At $6+ for a 500ml that inexplicably flies off the shelf, no thanks.

As to KBS, I've been meaning to rereview that. It does look ridiculous doesn't it? I don't know if it's palate change, beer change from year-to-year, or just me having experienced more beers and having more perspective (I was a wee lad then, in beer terms), but nowadays I'd give it more in the 4.2 range. Yeah, it's still really good, but compared to similar beers (BCBS, Black Note, CW BBS, Assassin, BA Siberian Night, etc. it doesn't hold a candle), and I definitely prefer Founders other offerings in that tier like Backwoods Bastard, Imperial Stout, and Breakfast Stout (all not as rare and better in my opinion). Now that I've been called out, I really need to get around to that rereview and soon (I sorta wanna rereview all my early reviews. "I wish that I knew what I know now, when I was younger...")

Odd, because I was just thinking not 10 minutes ago that Two Hearted Ale is probably one of the best beers I've ever had. Haha. It's got a nice thick mouthfeel, juicy upfront, and dry on the finish, all of which are some of my favorite aspects of a good IPA. (IMO)
I guess it's not for everyone, though.

I would change it somewhat, but it wouldn't come down much. Having also had it recently, it was still at least a 4.75 for me. I've gotta make room for the Trilliums of the world, however, and with beer, I tend to try to grade on a curve, believing that there are very few truly exemplary beers relative to the rest in their style.

Trappist beer. I sort of get them, but at the moment they're not to my taste at all.

Grabbed the two hearted when I was in florida and bought a couple of cases home for my bartender for trades. I pretty much drank it and Jai Alai when I was out there, and brought back a 6r of each for myself. To be honest I was sick and tired of both of them after a week, but after getting back, I have been drinking them and really enjoy them, are they my favorite... probably not, but both are really solid and I wish I had year round access to them. I don't get belgian beers, I enjoy them, I just don't seek them out. But that will change, because my new go to is Saisons and becoming familiar with that taste profile will solve that

Ready? Dark Lord. Not even close to my favorite big stout. Do I have fun at Dark Lord Day? Sure. A bit overrated though, in my opinion.

EDIT: (Also, currently checking my review to see if I will look silly for posting this.)
