As a very recent transplant from NYC to Long Beach, one of the beers I miss the most has been anything from Founders. I had thought I heard somewhere that they were coming to CA? Is that not true? God I miss their beer :slight_frown: But making up for it with amazing Beachwood ipas!!

I think, and could be completely wrong, I saw someone post they were coming to CA, but it was only Northern Cali right now.

Correct, it's only being distributed to Nor-cal. They are currently looking for distributors in So- cal possibly Cal brewers guild

I saw that they're looking for a Founders representative right now for the Bay Area.

(Selfishly) I hope they're slow in getting out to CA. My best trading beers are Founders:wink:

Sadly agree on KBS, though I have some faith those who want it will be able to get it.

Would love to see FBS on shelves regularly, as it laps 99 percent of stouts made out here. If they focus on darker brews instead of the IPAs we already have covered locally, they'll be much better off. Bell's seemed to just do all things equal, and I end up seeing Two-Hearted Ale literally sitting everywhere.

To me, Founders would be similar to Bells. Nice to have, but considering the plethora of good beer we have out here, it will just sit around. A very solid lineup, but the only thing that would be better than what we already have is Breakfast.

Disagree...the seasonals are very good..and never sat around NYC area: Backwoods Basterd, Harvest Ale, Double Trouble..and backstage series stuff. Red Rye fresh is also excellent

Harvest Ale and Double Trouble won't sell because they're not better than local options. Backwoods would probably do well.

I think it might do well. Not very many 12 Oz DIPAs out here.

@jlira Is it going to cost less than options like Kook or Wolf Among Weeds (and many others)? The other reason Bell's sits is because it's expensive.

not sure what Kook is, but Wolf Among Weeds or any other Golden Road beers have never really sold up here.

Harvest is the shit, it'll sell. But we likely won't see much of that or backwoods I'm guessing. I know I've seen old ass bottles of Centennial for like $5 at a couple of our shitty local stores that dabble in the grey market.

Not saying the offerings are not good. There are just as many local options that are as good or better.

We are spoiled in southern California. San Diego has as many world class breweries as any other city in the us, and Los Angeles is a developing market with many breweries just starting to hit their stride. And those two statements are ignoring Orange County, which is somewhere between the two, more established yet still room to grow.

Then in Northern California there are brilliant breweries that make some o the best beers in the country. Russian River just by itself is about as good as you can get, and tat is ap mere sample.

And then just for good measure Firestone is between the two in Central California.

Then there is the fact that we triple every other state's production, with exception to three, and Washington and Oregon import a lot of beer to us. We just are stupid spoiled with beer here, that IMO it is at this point, stupid for most breweries to try to get beyond a small distribution sample here to see if it is effective, and even then very slow growth has to be expected.

I get to have a lot of the Midwest beers. I am originally from Illinois and go back a few times a year. Founders is good, but there are local beers that are just as good, and perhaps better. There are many other lesser known breweries I would be excited for. We just already have similar or Founders, and they are quite a bit late to the game to try to get in.

I'd even buy Dirty Bastard. Not too many decent scotch ales in 12oz. bottles in California. Backwoods Bastard - that will likely be hoarded almost as much as KBS would.

Funny that it will show up in NorCal first, since I just moved up here. LOL
