SN Bigfoot. For the longest time it had me thinking that I didn't like the barleywine style.

Then I had some English versions. And some American versions that weren't basically a quadruple IPA. And it dawned on me that I just don't care for the hopped-to-hell variety that overpowers all the delicious caramel and candied fruits of the style. I like super hoppy beers, but the hops in Bigfoot are overpoweringly bitter and dominate the entire flavor profile. And before anyone recommends trying it with some age on it, I drank a 2013 a month ago and still didn't care for it, so unless it changes significantly with even more time than 2+ years, I don't think it will help.

I have a bottle of BA Bigfoot at home that I suspect I won't like, but here's hoping the barrel-aging brings out some additional sweetness and cuts the hop bitterness a bit.

I buy 2 4-packs of Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin every year and enjoy them gradually across Fall and early Winter. It is a very good beer. But the thought of guzzling pumpkin beers makes me slightly ill.

Sculpin costs too much for what it is. It's a fine beer, but a bad value. It has entered Rogue territory as far as pricing, quality, and value.

Dale's Pale Ale and SN Pale Ale. Both are way to sweet and malty for me, I don't understand the love for them (well I guess I can see how SN was important).

Both just fall flat compared to many other pale ales for me (Schlafly, Boulevard, 8-Bit).

I'm starting to get there too. I try as many Short's as I can every year while in Michigan and have yet to be swept off my feet. I also made the mistake of picking up a variety 12 pack before heading back to VA for the sole purpose of getting that Danzig beer. Haven't tried it yet but two of the three I've had were just a waste of space. Deacon Blues is decent but not exactly adherent to the style, so jury still out. For breweries that only distro in Michigan, I'll take Odd Sides over Short's any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

@Mojo - I'm there too. Not a fan of sours or Berliner Weiss. I've tried enough to now know that it's just not going to happen.

Have you tried Southern Tier Pumking and Warlock? I have the same issue with Pumpkin beers but the two I mentioned are the only ones I like.

Any 3 Floyds DIPAs - all taste the same and not a huge hop profile like you'd expect
Stone - everything they do with the exception of Delicious

2012 is probably the sweet spot on the Bigfoots from the ones I've had recently (10-15) but not to a level that would make much of a difference for someone who doesn't like the 2013.

Thought PseudoSue a weak, watery whiff of a beer. Backwoods Bastard a hyper-sweet booze bomb. Jack's Abby Mass/Kiwi Rising incredibly shrill and astringent. Carton 077xx uninspired booze and malt. Xocoveza far too thin and overcarbed, coupled with an overemphasis on the spices rather than spiciness (and I love spicy beer). Second Fiddle doesn't near belong being mentioned with the other VT heavy hitters. Speaking of, Focal Banger is one-dimensional Citra water. And Noble Ale Works Citra Showers is Citra hops + saltine crackers. Meh.

    Haterz gunna hate!

Mine is a style, not just a specific beer; bourbon or whisky barrel aged anything. I want to like them, but I can't. I don't think it adds anything positive to the beer.

I can't say barrel aged everything though, as I have had a few Saison's that were aged in wine barrels and they are great.

Most of those beers were odd. But at trade shows they did have cool Viking helmets.

I've had it and was not a fan at all. Next! haha

I've had Pumking and didn't like it at all. Maybe I'll give Warlock a try if I run across any. I've noticed the Terrapin Pumpkin beer started popping up on shelves in my area. I'll probably give that one a try too.

Barrel Aged Quads....I love a good Quad, but I really don't think there's any need to barrel age them...it actually seems to take away from the "belgiany quady" aspect of it, and turns it into an expensive bottle of confusion.

I used to love Ringwood yeast beers, but after a few years it tastes so goddamn slick. I'll still enjoy them, but not in the same way.

Tripels and Hefes have been styles I avoid, and can't honestly say why. Thankfully the break I took from drinking and now getting back into the scene is retraining my palate.

Maine Lunch was unimpressive. I had a three week old bottle bought from a reputable bottle shop and it tasted like 75% awesome IPA mixed with 25% water. I hadn't drank any other beer nor eaten in the hour or two before this beer, so nothing was messing with the flavors either. I've wanted to give it another shot because my main man @LeRose has clued me in to just how awesome MBC treats their employees (and I want to support such businesses when I can), but their price tags are no joke. As such, I find I just look right past them when I'm at the bottle shop.

I also don't get the love for a lot of the huge abv stouts. They are unique and the flavors are enjoyable, but fuck, they are so sweet. I know I have a very small sweet tooth as compared to most though. But damn, I feel like bombers of these double digit abv stouts need to come with complimentary diabetic socks.
