So I got 2 tweets today regarding Oskar Blues IPA. One from my local bottle shop announcing the arrival of Oskar Blues IPA (cool, I think to myself, will have to try this weekend). Then I see, on a different tweet, the following picture from Oskar Blues showing a canning date that includes the words 'Nice Job, Biscuit" - In reference to Sun King Brewery (via their employee "Biscuit") including the words "Tom Brady Sux" in their can dating code. So I quickly change my mind about buying OB IPA!

Clearly this is all intended as good-natured kidding. But it got me thinking - Does it make good business sense for a brewery to dis a market they are trying to do business in to gain favor in another market? Does it matter to you?

Don't care at all. he is probably better then a lot of other owners out there that use cheap labor in other countries to make a lot of the products that many of us buy or put toxic shit into rivers to help save costs. If he took a cheap shot at the niners I would not care. Bigger problems in the world...

It actually irritates me a little because I'm a Tom Brady fanboy through and through....but then I get over myself.

So many other options out there these days, knowing this, ill skip drinking Oskar Blues IPA because of it. I am a Patriots fan and overly sensitive of all of this over inflated contrived controversy. So I will just drink local - quality local.

It was suggested to me on twitter when I said I wouldn't drink Oskar Blues over this that I was only hurting myself and that it would be my taste buds that would suffer. Which is utterly laughable when I have a fridge full of Tree House, Trillium, and beers from any number of the 5,000+ breweries out there... I think I'll be ok... :-)

I think Tom Brady cheating at football is worse than stamping the bottom of a beer can.

I would agree with your statement, but it unfortunately is simply not true, how exactly did Brady cheat at football? The NFL's $5m report that was edited by the NFL claims he was most likely generally aware of deflation in one game. Yet, there is no proof, and the judge has no idea what the means. The only proof is statement that he prefers balls to be 12.5 PSI - which is in the legal range. There is no proof he prefers, knew about, or orchestrated any deflation.

Plus this is a beer forum, not a Hate US cause you Ain't Us forum.

I think the folks at OB have been smoking too many pinners to think sending something that is sort of anti Tom Brady to New England was funny/smart.

I don't think we have seen the last of dumb shit on the bottom of cans.

In the end, I feel bad for the local reps that have to deal with the bullshit.

To be fair, I'm not so sure they sent any of those cans to New England, but they printed them and they do business here, and there is a very loyal fan base here, so you are right to question the wisdom of it, regardless of the intent. And yeah, the local sales reps must hate this...

Denver and Indianapolis high five each other, while Brady is getting ready to raise another banner. I think I can get over this.

True! Though Indy did get to raise that nifty "2014 AFC Finalist" banner this year... :-)

While last night proved the front line sucks, Tom does in fact, not suck.
But to forgo drinking what will be a decent, affordable IPA in a can, from a reputable brewery, over that, is your choice. Not me, they will go on my "cans only" shelf, next to GKnight, Old Chub, and Dales.
