Darkness Day 2015

I don't think anyone really knows for sure. It was said that Darkness for the masses was a one time BA. However, in one of the threads here, there was some information that may contradict that saying they may release a BA version along side the none BA.

However, reading this label and the label from 14, I would say no. The 14 mentions rye whiskey, this was has no mention of that.

Personally I hope it is non-BA because that is what Darkness is to me. But if they release a BA version... sadly I will be right there with everyone trying to get a taste.

Agreed, last years was so intricate it was messy to my eyes. Still, I'm more interested in the beer inside than the label outside as I'm sure we all are.

 

I think you are right. The tasting notes on this bottle match 2013 exactly. 2014's BA bottle added rye whiskey and vanilla but were otherwise the same. (I checked 2011 and 2012, and there were no tasting notes.)

Apparently the head brewer told a BA that he is "never" barrel aging darkness again

 

2015 Darkness was aged in bats?! Now *that's* metal!

 

No, but according to the label, it will be infused with bat drool.

Yes, I had to check to make sure I spelled "misspelled" correctly. Nothing like calling out a spelling error while making one of your own!

 

My bet is that there will be BA darkness this year but kegs only.

 

Todd just confirmed in a tweet that Darkness and BA Darkness are in process. No further details on if BA Darkness will be for special events or in bottles too for the masses.

Call me a nerd but I judge for spelling errors on things like product labels. Hopefully they haven't printed up 15,000 bottles that way already...

 

The spelling error was noted, was corrected before going to production,
and will not be on the actual bottle. Congrats on your keen eye, and thanks

Seriously though, thanks for being upfront about it and providing a positive response. Just another example of why this brewery has its legions of fans and rarely missteps with its interactions.

Now, if you can get us in touch with the security folks to help alleviate or fears of those darn line cutters...

 

Better than last two years art for me.

Drank the BA version a few nights ago though and it is just fantastic. Hoping for bottles of the non-BA for sale, but BA on tap at Darkness Day this year.

 

Per Todd they are bottling both BA and regular Darkness this year.

 

Appears to be the same barrel type as last year and will only be aged for a few months (if in fact they went into barrels on the date listed).

 

Looks like at least 20 barrels worth from the numbering that I can see (HW270 to HW290). @MNPikey did you get a better count?

 

More like 300+ barrels.
