What I can't stand are people with clever posts that make fun of the OP just so they can get a lot of likes (me included).

A few years ago the Alstrom brothers tried to ban acronyms but it didn't seem to catch on.

Did they ask the SEA for help?

But, this thread is in the running for TMUTEOBA.

The focus was on unexplained Acronym use in thread titles. The mods will still act on that if they get a report.

When they appeared in posts only it was still left up to us to ignore or ask the user to elaborate.

The most useless thing ever on Beer Advocate? I'll have to seek that one out. Honestly, folks need thicker skin. But I really don't believe any type of snobbery around here is too big of a distraction. It's all kinda fun.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The George Carlin routine applies here, as it applies everywhere in life: anyone who drives slower than you is an idiot, and anyone who drives faster is a crazed maniac asshole.

Anyone who buys less rare stuff than me, or buys cheaper stuff than I do, or spends less time/effort buying beer, is a philistine who doesn't appreciate quality beer, and probably likes Fat Tire and supports ISIS.

Anyone who buys more rare stuff than me, or buys more expensive stuff, is a damn truck chasing Captain Ahab ticker who is more interested in hype than good beer, and probably voted for Nader.

Passed over most of the discussion to just chime in with my 2 cents: All hobbies have their varies levels of participation, with different price ranges within them. There's a hurdle toward the beginning of membership in a tribe of hobbyists, it comes shortly after the new entry excitement and the dust has settled a bit, and it's called FoMO. Fear of Missing Out. People get angsty about not being involved in the whalez, the grails, and the high-end items that they see being flaunted in forums and facebook groups, so they chase. They try sooo hard to obtain, just so they can show off and humblebrag. This becomes frustrating. Some will relax and understand that they simply have a ways to go, while others will grow bitter, and mock the people who 'can have nice things'.

I only buy beer when there are no other cars in the bottle shop parking lot. This minimizes the possibility of me running into someone that will venture an opinion on my selection.

Everyone is right...unless they're wrong and then it's time to drink but only less than a day old IPA's or cellar-ed barrel aged stouts that you have to wait in line for..I don't wait in line, I have people that do that for me, don't you? Bummer.

As far as glassware and how you clean them I use a new glass every time and I mean every bottle that gets opened by my cicerone who faces the 5th element while pouring my beverage, I will not risk cross contamination by using a glass twice and I feel I have better control over the temperature of my beer. This is the only way

My cellar is huge and full or so I'm told and I only do bottle shares with virgins (of age of course) that have never tasted these sweet nectar's and I can completely impress. I highly recommend this.

What beer am I drinking now? The first bottle of 2016 Hopslam to come off the line, I feel that flavor has dropped considerably and I believe that the recipe might have changed from last year.

It's beer, it's good, get it cold, open it up, share it first with your tongue and then with others

BTW I was just kidding about the Hopslam, I thought it was exceptional

Everybody has their own way of "doing" this beer thing. It's their time, their money. It's none of my business how anybody spends either. I don't understand some of what people go through, but why is that my concern? I respect you, you respect me, cheers. If we try to change each others' minds that's called discussion. I've spent well north of $8 on a bottle of beer and enjoyed every drop, or been really disappointed. I've spent less and had the same results. I go by my budget whether it's two bottles or twenty four. If you choose to limit your beer purchases by price, good for you. If you like to camp out to get a special release brew, go for it...it's about the social interaction as much as the beer. You want to chase the delivery truck and be all "I got mine look at me", great. Those are some things I see in Beervana that I very simply choose not to do.

And there's no doubt - we all slip into asshole mode once in a while where so many different viewpoints coexist.
