The OPs point seems to have been that just because you won't, or can't, get the hard to acquire beers is no reason to criticize those who do. And I believe many of those people wish they were able to get those beers. They can't, so they criticize those who do. I stand by my analogy. Anyone who sees a Ferrari drive by and says "only an idiot would spend that much on a car!" wishes they had that much to spend on a car.

Sorry but that's BS. Whether about cars, houses or beers. Not everyone who says that it's insane to buy something dies so out of envy.maybe they should be polite and keep their opinion to themself, but it's still a valid opinion.

I've thought a bit more on this and here's my thoughts.

First, part of the backlash has to do with certain types that chase whalez and brag about the beer they drink to feel better than everyone else. You know the types. Not only have they had better beer than the awesome beer you wanted for so long and finally chased down, they feel a need to shit on it as being just oh so available and not that hard to get if you're serious. You know that guy, we all know that guy.

Second, while I love me some whalez bro as much as the next guy, I don't think many will argue it has artificially elevated a certain class of beers based far too much on their lack of availability. Take your pick, you know the ones. There's a lot of great beer in everyone's backyard that isn't hard to find, isn't expensive, yet it is outstanding. This two tier nonsense is just that, nonsense. Beers aren't better because they're limited, and they aren't worse because they can be easily had.

This doesn't account for all the OP is talking about, but I think it is a considerable part of it. The idea that you can get amazing beer without whale chasing, spending a bunch of money or anything like that is too often dismissed. I make very good money, but that doesn't mean I need to drink the most expensive exotic beers I can find. I enjoy me a $4 Stoopid, a $8 sixer of Bear Republic, and many a $9 High Westified nearly as much as when I drink me a $20 bottle of SARA, RR sours or anything else that's on the pricey side.

It's all still beer. A lot of it is still good regardless of price or availability. It doesn't make you superior to anyone else if you drink nothing but whalez bro... you're still doing the same thing the rest of us are.

I've seen several beautiful Teslas lately, and I could afford one. I would never buy one because my 2005 Element with 240K plus miles is fantastic. The premise that jealousy motivates desire is very odd for sure.

So, my mistake was drinking it at 5:30pm?

Seriously, it was awful. Can't imagine it would be great if I drank it 8 hours earlier.

You're not interested yet you want more to be produced so you can easily get it.

I love Dark Lord but come on, no one is going to buy the stuff so often that they need to make more of it. It's a treat brewed once a year for Floyds to rake in money while allowing people to celebrate beer by bringing bottles from all over the world to the festival and jam to live music.

I think it's unusual thinking to expect that price does not make a difference to anyone, or should not, ever.

I am fortunate to be able to afford the occasional expensive beer. However, having limited resources, I do use this web site as a tool that hopefully will let me invest wisely. (Most of the time, this works out well.) Fortunately, there are excellent beers available at a variety of prices!

    It was a joke? Right.

And that beer sucks because it sucks, not because I'm being any type of a snob.

It's the same with every hobby. People are in it for different reasons and different budgets. Plus the choices one has now of what beer to buy is insane, nearly every state makes their own. No one is right if you ask me there are just to options out to be a snob about anything. We all want the best and we all deserve it some people will work harder for it some won't. Me I'll settle for whatever you got but it better come with good conversations because I ain't drinking a steel reserve 211 for the taste of and better be near ice cold. Just my little rant. It don't mean anything, just felt like rambling.

Decent idea, but I have seen less and less "Advocating" for any beer on here of late, I have been using this site for a while and only registered recently to allow for discussion because it wasnt fun just sitting the sidelines anymore but I post less and less.
It shouldn't matter if you drink Bud or only "Whales", it's still beer and I thought we were here to share it with everyone else and give them a shot at forming their own opinion, not look down our noses at their choices, discount their opinions, or hoard all the "good beer'.

Buy two or three bottles of whatever you like or whatever hard to gets you and your region have, drink one, save one, and most importantly, pass one on.. We are all in this together folks.. Spread good beer karma.
