    Some people say that cooperation among craft brewers is a thing of the past. They call it kumbayah. Has collaboration as an expression of that cooperation declined?

    On a related note, are ABI and SABMILLER subs participating in collaborations?

    I haven't seen any noticeable decline in the number labels of collaboration beers being posted recently. In fact, I'd say it hasn't declined but rather it happens so often that it has ceased to be a big deal to the point where it is more difficult these days for breweries to get their collaborations noticed.

    I feel like there are more collaborations now than there have ever been. I see new ones weekly.

    Seems like Stone releases a collab every week. Personally, I rarely find the result of most collabs to be anything of note.

    New Belgium /Alpine Super IPA remains one of the best IPAs I've had and they even brought it back for an encore.

    Most are not life changing and I would put most in the "above average category" but I think they represent an element of some of what remains "right" with craft brewing.

    Almost always worth a pint or bomber.

    As others have pointed out, collaboration has gone on for years and continues to go on. But I've never met or heard a brewery or brewery call it kumbayah, so who ever is saying that is probably being naive or sarcastic rather than serious.

    On your related note, I don't have the faintest idea of what an ABI or SABMILLER sub is so I have no idea of whether or not they are doing.

    Just last year Sierra Nevada did a 12 pack with 12 different collaborations. If you aren't seeing collaborations, you just are not looking.

    Sub = subsidiary.

    There are definitely people here who consider the notion of a distinctive culture of craft beer, a movement, to be something they call kumbayah.

    Yeah, but I don't think the point is to do something earth shaking, but rather its an opportunity for folks to get together in a work context and share ideas and experiences. Typically lots of guided trial and error has to fail before anyone anywhere gets something really new and different going. Indeed one of the critical elements in any area involving innovation and/or creativity we'll find lots of failures. What's key is whether the person making the effort learns anything. Indeed, one of my friends used to say, "I have to learn from the mistakes of others, I don't have time to make them all myself." :-)

    And when did people here become the definers or accurate observers/describers of anything when they are viewing it from the outside?

    I did not say they are accurate observers. I am trying to determine if they are, by asking for info about a possible measure of collaboration within craft beer.

    I don't understand this thread. There are more collaborations than ever before. This can't be serious.
