I'm curious what you guys do with beers you really want to try but are only released in bomber formats. I personally don't buy a beer unless I know exactly when/what occasion I'm going to drink it for, and since many of the bombers I want to try are higher ABV stuff, I don't usually pick one up unless I know I'll be sharing it with someone soon. So what do you guys do? Do you pick up stuff anyway and just wait for the right occasion to share it with somebody comes around or do you drink the whole thing yourself?

Uh... I drink them whole. Always. That goes for when it's something I haven't tried as well.

Can't remember the last time I ever split one with someone.

I just get it anyways and drink it when I feel like having it. If it's a higher ABV I am more likely to age it but otherwise drink up!!!!

And just a friendly reminder that even with a high gravity beer, a bomber (whether in 22 or 23 ounce format) is still technically less than having a couple 12 ounce bottles)

Drink it myself. Put it on display in my basement. Repeat with another bomber.

On the rare occasion that I purchase bombers it is because I want to try said beer.
I don't really have a special occasion in mind, I just drink it when the time is right.
Sometimes it will be a beer that my wife enjoys so we share it. Other times I will drink it myself.

That's what I'm talking about!!! I was saving all my bomber bottles and just recycled a bunch of them. My apt which is a basement was getting full :grinning:

For bomber IPA's, drink them ASAP (don't wait for a special time 6 months from now).

Other bomber beers: stouts, porters, wilds, etc. can be aged/ held onto without any harm.

+1 for the solo crew. Nobody to share with, so I just enjoy em alone.

I buy it and see what days my friends are free and share it with them. Either that or I just buy it so I have it for a special occasion.

I try to get them on tap, when possible. There's a place near me that prices every pint at $5 during happy hour. That's much more expensive per ounce than buying a six-pack of everyday beer, but it comes out to under $7 for a bomber.

I usually drink with the lady, but I will drink a bomber alone without issue. It doesn't bother me to put down a Black Tuesday by myself, so I'm pretty sure I would have no problem drinking a bomber of just about anything.

I usually don't buy them -- six-packs or even 12-ounce singles pretty much always have a better price-to-how-much-beer-you-get ratio when compared to the bigger bottles.

But when I do buy bombers, I usually buy them with a plan for splitting them with someone already in mind (especially if they're higher-ABV, like anything above maybe 7%)... though I will drink one on my own on rare occasions if the ABV isn't super high and I feel like having the equivalent of a couple beers rather than just one.

I avoid bombers because I realize most of them have an insulting markup

Yeah, usually drink it myself, or share, just depends. For the most part Bombers, 750mls are very tasty brews.

    Cheers!

I rarely buy bombers/750mls. They are generally high gravity, and once opened you are forced to drink the entire thing (I have nobody to share with most of the time) or try to keep it from going flat. Not to mention the price per ounce can be considerably higher than a 4 or 6 pack.
