Is there a brew that at one time really knocked your socks off, but now it no longer has the same affect?

    Hopslam.

First time I had it when I started on craft beer I thought it was fantastic.

But now that I've had every years release since, it's still solid but I don't go out of my way for it anymore.

Founders Breakfast Stout, utterly lackluster compared to what's out there today....

Pliny The Elder was the IPA that made me a hop head. It's still a great beer but so many other breweries on the west coast and the north east are making amazing IPA's now. That being said I drink Pliny when I see it at tastings/bottle shares but no longer seek it out via trade as I do Alpine, Tree House, Trillium, etc..

I've got a list beers I previously were the greatest beers on the planet, but seemed a little lackluster last few times I had them:
    Old Raspy
    Founders Breakfast Stout
    Victory Hop Ranch (tasted thin/watery)
Weihenstepahner Hef. (banana/clove flavors seem muted last couple of times)
Even the Sucks I just bough a week ago in 6-pack format seemed a little muted in both smell and flavor as well. Perhaps it wasn't as fresh.

Eric's Ale from New Belgium. Had in on tap just a short time after turning 21 and it blew my mind as it was the first 'sour' beer I'd tried. Skip ahead several years and add a growing disinterest in AWAs and I found it this time around to be just alright.

I'm going to say it... Founders kbs... Don't get me wrong its great but the market is filled with bourbon aged stouts, and a lot of them are either as good or better. Also not saying there are not terrible BA stuff but kbs has set the bar high. Not all BAs are created equal.

    all tripels :slight_frown:

For some reason, the clove/all-spice notes in the good tripel have been getting in my way. I need to revisit Tripel Karmeliet here in a week or so to test this out, because the first time I tried that beer, it felt like sneaking ambrosia from the gods. The second time? :grimacing::astonished::astonished::astonished::astonished::astonished::grimacing: It didn't suck, but I didn't enjoy it even half as much.

This. So much this. First batch of Sucks was so fucking good I bought a case. Sure it dropped off quick, but I only realized the drop off in the last 4 bottles or so... but recently, it just makes me sad. I just want that first suck flavor back in my life.

Came here to say pretty much the same. Not to the point where I'll turn it down but don't seek it out in trade anymore
