    Anyone going to:
    - the Maritime Pacific 25th Anniversary Party?
    - Bacon, Kegs, & Eggs?
    - Mammoth's Summer Brewer's Best Event?

    Any events I am missing?

I am hoping to attend the Mammoth event and the Maritime Pacific event...

There are some bottles being released in town. Let's hope you don't have to work during the day on Friday.

Latona Pub's anniversary party is on Saturday. Same with Toronado's.

I'll be going to both Beer Authority's Blackout stout and waffles breakfast and Toronado's anniversary event. Gonna be a long drunk day.

Thanks, just wanted to make sure. Now we need to delete all evidence

I like the idea of having a thread like this for every weekend...we just need to figure out a way to password protect it

I initially saw your post and was thinking "it's just another weekend," then realized a ton is happening.

I'm still on summer break, so I'll be at the release this Friday, and I live near Toronado and Latona so I'm sure I'll walk over and have a beer at each place.

This thread reminds me of the regular thread in the Midwest Forum: "On Tap in the Twin Cities". This thread gets a new start every month. Here's a link to the August edition: On Tap In The Twin Cities - August Edition

The Twin Cities BAs use this thread as a spot to trade information about beers that they have recently seen on tap, that they think others would like to know about. Some bar owners post occasionally about their events (mini-festivals, tap takeovers, etc.). And, like the PNW BAs, folks occasionally digress onto other topics besides just what they've seen on tap.

When I visit Minnesota, it's the first thing I look at, and it's helped me spot some beers that I would have otherwise missed. But it's not just for out-of-towners ... it's mostly for locals trying to stay on top of what's available.

For Seattle, I personally don't get to enough bars to be the mainstay of a thread like this. And it depends on whether all of you Seattle BAs feel like this would be useful, or whether you already know what you need to know.

What do you all think? Should we give it a try?

As an example, I'll post a report below on what I saw yesterday.

It’s been a good while since I’d stopped at Super Deli Mart in West Seattle. They now have 16 taps, and a much wider range of choices. Yesterday they had Abyss ’13, Abyss ’14, Black Butte XXVI, and Georgetown’s RIS “Oharov”. Great choice of dark strong beers, a bit unusual to find on tap in the summer. As always with Super Deli Mart, the prices are great. A glass of Oharov is $2.50, and the Deschutes trio are just $4.25 each.

And at the Masonry: from Omnipollo ( Swedish), Fatamorgana … a very interesting fruity double IPA that’s full of flavor. Some say it’s pretty close to Heady Topper, but I wouldn’t know. But very worth a visit, IMHO.

I completely agree. I recently moved out here from the Twin Cities, and that thread is always useful. I know people use various methods to keep track of what's on tap where (untappd, for example), but a forum thread can be a good aggregator of useful information.

I used to spend a lot of time in Mpls before I changed jobs and loved their beer scene, but it's small compared to the greater Seattle beer scene. I'm not sure it would be possible or practical for such an on-going thread for Seattle or Portland --- there are just too many great places.

Another reason I would not advocate for such a thread is that there are numerous douchebags out there that take advantage of these kinds of threads. When I was first starting out on BA, I posted that a local beer store had x amount of a limited release. Within an hour of my post, one dude came in and bought all of it and it was like 10 bottles or so. I never posted about releases, special taps, etc. again. This is why we can't have nice things.

Threads like these, frankly, are the worst thing about BA IMHO. Next thing you know dudes are following distributor trucks around the city. Fuck that.

If it makes you feel any better, I think I still have 3 or 4 of those bottles. Aging fantastically.

We already have Shelton Bros truck chasers. We don't need more.
