Well I have drained poured a few beers in the past couple of years. They sounded good but the first taste was not to my liking. Life is too short to drink bad beer! The way I look at is I paid for it I can dump it.

One of my housemates' girlfriends brought over a six-pack of an abomination called Michelob Ultra Light Cider. I laughed my ass off when I saw it in the fridge, 'cause Worst Idea Ever. I guess I called it; every one that got opened got drainpoured. I asked for a description and got a unanimous "watered-down apple Jolly Rancher".

A week later, half the sixpack is still sitting in the fridge; guess we inherited it.

OT: I don't drainpour often, but I damn sure will.

Hate that term. Only 'drainpour' for me was Gulden Draak. Fucking revolting. A month since and I've not been able to drink anything remotely estery.

This doesnt count. Michelob Ultra is actually someone's previous drain pour that was re-bottled.

Only 1 ever - Cimmerian Sabretooth Berserker, and I think it was infected. I'd never pour out a non-infected beer.

I have no problem pouring shit out, I don't get the big deal.

If I'm sitting down on a Tuesday night and having the 1-2 beers I allow myself to have, and it sucks, I'm sure as shit taking a few sips and then dumping it.

If you have a legit answer why I shouldn't, I'm all ears.

Life's too short to drink crappy beer. If you don't like it, get rid of it and move on to something better.

Haha I know man. One of those instances when my personal tastes run against the grain of the beer community at large

Its extremely rare that I drain pour - I can count on one hand how many times I have but I'll give you an example. I made the mistake of buying Dogfish Head Raison D extra. I bought it without knowing anything about it but figured a beer that pricey and from a brewery like DH has to be good right ? WRONG ! I drank one and forced it down even though it was god awful. Just a terrible beer IMO. A few days later I thought maybe that one was bad or whatever, it can't be that bad can it ?? Well, it was. Popped the 2nd a few days later. I got about 1/2 through it and just couldn't do it. Why force myself when I hated it esp when I always have a fridge full of quality brews. I would consider forcing myself to drink crap more a puss move than admitting my mistake and pouring that shit out. I had to pop a KBS to get the taste outta my mouth. I gave the rest away to friends - even after telling them how awful it was. Most agreed with me, one actually enjoyed his. All good - everybody's taste isn't the same but my point is I am not going to force down something I'm not enjoying. Why would I ? Life's too short to drink crap beer.

I have poured portions of beers down the drain plenty of times, but I am annoyed that "drain pour" exists as a noun or verb around here.

I've dumped a few beers, when a stout tastes like straight vinegar... when anything tastes like straight vinegar...
I guess you could save it and make a boozy salad dressing out of it.

I do because if I'm going to consume empty calories they had better taste great. Last night I had a drainpour actually. It was Hayseed by Smuttynose. They didn't put what style it was on the label (cant stand that) but I couldn't find anything to complete my mix a six, so i got it. It turned out to be not my thing, so I let it go. The 5 previous beers were sufficient for a worknight anyways.

Or the inevitable acronym. There was a time when "yeah I DP'd that shit" meant something totally different

To each their own. You yourself have done the very thing you detest. I like to drink for myself, not anyone else. If the next guy loves to drain pour his beers, more power to him. Drink to enjoy.
