My usual go to pumpkin beers just aren't cutting it for me this year and I think it's because my taste palette has matured. My problem is that I'm finding them too subtle or light in flavor and it's bumming me out since it's one of my favorite styles of beer. Maybe I can try a pumpkin porter/stout or imperial if such a thing exists? So, I'm looking for suggestions, hopefully something common to the Denver surrounding area. I live minutes away from a liquor warehouse (Tipsy's Liquor World, Littleton, CO)

    Thanks in advance!

Well what have you had so far? A bit tough to recommend without a little more information.

but regardless, try Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin if it is available in your area. As for dark, Maybe Warlock?. I've never had Warlock, but it was the first thing to come to mind

I know Starr Hill here in Virginia makes a pumpkin porter, though I haven't tried it so I can't say whether I'd recommend it or not. Also not sure if they even distribute all the way to Colorado. Definitely does sound like it falls into the "dark beer that's also a pumpkin beer" category, though.

What are the usual ones that you have been drinking so we can help?

I strongly suggest you obtain some Crown Valley Imperial Pumpkin Smash Stout from Missouri. Outstanding.
I have stored some from last year, I'm eager to see how well it ages.

Weyerbacher if available. Pumking was simply...TOO MUCH pumpkin for me. the Weyerbacher still reminds you it's a beer.

I should have mentioned beers I have already tried...
I can't remember all the ones I've had over the years but here are some of the ones I get almost every year.
    Elysian's Night Owl
New Holland's Ichabod (perfumey after taste this year)
    Lakefront Brewery
    Uianta's Punk'n
    Coors' Blue Moon "Harvest Moon"
    Sam Adams Pumpkin

I should also mention it doesn't have to be dark but something that packs flavor at least.

Fisherman's Pumpkin Stout is great. There's an imperial verison i havent had but the the regular one is 7% i think and has great body and flavor. Comes out of Massachusetts so i dont know if it distributes to Colorado but keep an eye out!

I'm surprised Dark o' the Moon hasn't been mentioned yet. Warlock has already been mentioned, but I'd recommend it as well. Pumpkin stouts and porters aren't super rare, so I'm sure you can find something.

I'll submit a plug for Southern Tier Pumking but I'm not sure they distribute in Colorado.

Yall get epic out there. Try their fermentation without representation imperial pumpkin porter.

It's more porter w pumpkin than pumpkin beer, and that suits me just fine.

...and looks like I was beat to it so +1

I know it doesn't get much love on BA, but I really liked Redhook's Out Of Your Gourd Pumpkin Porter. For a dark pumpkin beer, it was surprisingly good.

I would think Warlock might be a better suggestion for OP.

Perhaps. I think either would be worth a try. Warlock is dark for sure, and thick, it's a sipper. Pumking, while not stout, is also full bodied, Imperial, and full of flavor

As has been suggested, the Avery Pumpkin beers, Warlock, and Crown Valley Pumpkin Smash. Pumking is strong in pumpkin flavor, but not like these other beers. Might also consider Almanac Heirloom Pumpkin and Voodoo Caution: Contains Real Pumpkins (if they make it again). Both are pumpkin barleywines, although more barleywine than pumpkin.

You can't go wrong with warlock, the greater pumpkin, pump(ky)n or the kaiser. All good stuff.
