I'm a longtime hophead who loves IPA's. I have found my palate can be finicky, such that a fresh PTE can taste not quite right on one night, but the next night the same date bottle can be great. The same with most other IPA's. But is there an IPA for you that tastes consistently the same, regardless of palate, bottle age, etc? For me, it is Odell IPA. Whether I have enjoyed other hoppy beers beforehand or the best buy date is getting long in the tooth, my taste buds still recognize and enjoy the Odell recipe. A close second would be Torpedo. What IPA is the most consistent for your palate?

Half Acre Gone Away. The only thing inconsistent about it is the name. hey-oh!

Bell's Two Hearted, Creature Comforts Tropicalia, and Ballast Point Big Eye have never done me wrong.

Pretty sure all 3 are hopped with Centennial, so I guess my palate just responds well to that hop variety.

Runners up (when I lived on the east coast) Fat Heads Headhunter, Smuttynose Finest Kind and Founders Centennial IPA.

I have never had any issues with any of those.

I'm surprised a bit by Sculpin...it has been one of my most enjoyable IPA's but so hit and miss many other times.

In terms of consistency you'd be hard pressed to name an IPA that has a higher degree of quality control And conformity from one batch to the next than SN Torpedo. That said I've never had a Cigar City Jai Alai or Maine Another One that let me down. A real key with any IPA is making sure it's fresh. I've had lackluster examples of plenty of well loved IPAs because they weren't properly cared for before they made their way to me.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Bell's Two Hearted Ale I could probably drink every day for the rest of my life and be perfectly content. It hits the spot perfectly any day, time, or season.
