GOSE! About to try a new one myself ... :grinning:

Real Ale's tastes like craft beer's answer to Bud Light Lime to me. I don't know if that's good or bad, but I like it. Drank a bunch of it last summer when it came out as their anniversary ale, and bought a couple sixers this summer when I saw it on the shelves (I *knew* they'd bring it back! It was super popular in 2014 and sold like hotcakes).

Do you make annual pilgrimages to Jester King?

    Thanks a bunch!

Gruit is definitely not for everyone, but if you're up for a beer challenge, it's a pretty cool one. Happy hunting!

That's some fantastic greenery! Love the pics ... and the beer looks crazy taste ... all those bubbles :grinning::grinning::grinning:

    look: 4 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.25

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a tulip glass

A: Hazy, bright orange color, two fingers of wispy white head.
S: Spices, pepper, hay, wheat, cloves, orange, banana, pears, vanilla, breadyness in the background
T: Sweetness upfront, spices, bananas, cloves, dry wheat in the finish
M: Full body with a surprisingly light mouthfeel, big carbonation scrubs the palate towards the end, dry finish. Drinks like a 5% beer, not like a near 8% beer.
O: Classic german beer, lots of flavor and well crafted. It tastes a lot like a good hefe mixed with a tripel

I'm always impressed with Ommegang's consistency. As I said in my review, all of its offerings are not only pleasingly complex and tasty - but fun! This one's no exception. Cheers, all!

I'm not a Total fan of SN but this brew is so tasty and drinkable. I could slam the sixer and no fucks would be given!

Afternoon NBSers, actually evening I should say. Thanks Maria for another tasty wake up call to get things off and running. Well yup late as usual because I work on Sundays. But I put my nose to the grindstone and didn't stop until I had something done that I kept putting off. It's been a fantastic beer weekend. I can't even count how many I tasted. I had nothing planned and that's how it turned out which is kind of cool. I did however have this beer planned and I'm following through with:
EVIL TWIN CALYPSO SINGLE HOP IMPERIAL INDIA PALE AMERICAN WHEAT LAGER.....wow

This beer pours a burnished hazy unfiltered gold with a tan head that rises then falls to a ring with significant peaks of lacing on the sides.

Smell is of toasty wheat bread and dry crackery malt. Soft notes of tangerine/citrus and green apple and pear and as the beer warmed more of a tropical note.
Tastes of citrus, warming pineapple (I think) mango. Lots of pear fruitiness from the calypso. Plenty of bitterness, but good, with a tad of sweetness from the wheat although there are no outstanding wheat characteristics for me. Lengthy delicious finish. Alcohol is well hidden...uh oh
Feel is dry, Bitter with a tiny bubble carb that washes away a slight slickness. A real easy drinking thirst quencher that is super dangerous.
Hard to imagine this is a Lager except for the fact it goes down s easy as a Lager would. More IPA like. It's everything you want in an easy drinking high abv summer thirst quencher. I tried the original non single hop version a few weeks back and liked this one. This calypso version is also very good. And a good way for me to hone my taste buds on that hop.
Liked it alot. It's also on ETs lower tier of pricing, which is still higher than everyone else but worth it. This is no exception. I would like to buy a few more before they are gone. Really enjoyable.

And for NOVS let's get going with the earlier sunsets.....you can still Rock in the Night Time.
Cheers BAs ! And as always thanks for listening! [IMG] [IMG]

That beer sound fantastic. I haven't seen it but if do I'm definitely going to grab it. I'm really starting to enjoy these beers that are aged in barrels other than bourbon. (Though I'm a fan too)

I opened that beer last night and initially was completely let down. I capped that bugger and came back for more about 3 hours later and my opinion totally changed. I got more of the juicy peach and tropical notes that the label claimed. Still stick to my original thought though that I preferred EB 7/4 more. It wasn't one of my faves from Stone.

What an absolutely incredible weekend--I hope all of you had the same sunny enjoyable weather. Worked hard in the yard for the last two days and unfortunately did not indulge in any of my favorite beers. As I finally sat down on the back deck I'm popping open a Clown Shoes!!!!!! Wishing you all the best and hoping that as the summer wanes and the fall approaches you are able to take a moment to enjoy what life has to offer. Cheers to the Ba Nation!

    Clown Shoes Undead Party Crasher
    American Imperial Porter
    Beer poured into Nonic-Pint Glass
    750ml bottle
    10% ABV 80 IBU

    Appearance - 4/5
The head appears foamy and thick with a deep mocha color. It starts out two fingers thick but fades fast and leaves some faint lacing behind. The color of the porter is opaque black like molasses.

    Smell - 4/5
Undead has aromas of sweet roasted malt with a hint of bitter chocolaty coffee.

    Taste - 4.25/5
This porter has a wonderful symphony of semi-sweet roasted malt; bitter chocolate, woodsy undertones and an overall well rounded smoothness that is very appealing.

    Mouth Feel – 4.25/5
This offering has a heavy-bodied syrupy quality that pervades throughout the experience. The carbonation is noticeable and stings the tongue perfectly. I prefer a heavier thicker mouth feel to my beer which this does possess (Very nice indeed). The alcohol is hidden well behind the play of bitter-sweet flavors.

    Overall - 4.25/
Undead Party Crasher is a very well rounded Imperial Porter which deserves at least a once over. I will purchase this again because it is an excellent porter at a fair price point. It has an excellent balance of sweet to bitter ratio, a thick heavy bodied mouth feel with just the right amount of carbonation. The alcohol is 10% ABV but hidden well. I have had experienced many O’ Porter that just miss the mark because they are a little thin or don’t have enough of a balanced flavor. This is one porter that does not fall short. If you enjoy porters you definitely need to check this out.

Good Sunday to you all, decided to do a side-by-side tasting this evening:

Great Lakes Brewing Co. - Blackout Stout & Barrel-Aged Blackout Stout

First of all we have two very pretty beers here in the glass, also a great nose on the base beer and the bourbon really comes through on the BA version.

Kinda surprised by the depth of the flavor on the base beer, tons of roasted malt flavor as well as some sweetness. Also a decent mouthfeel, a really good IS overall.

The bourbon really dominates the BA version, love this, depth of flavor is there in the background from the base beer but very bourbon forward.

Overall this is a really well done imperial stout, the bourbon barrel version takes it to another level and I was glad I got to try them both back to back.

    Cheers!

New beer and a new brewery for me.
    Banded Horn Brewery
    Pepperell Pilsner

Look: slightly hazy, almost no head or lacing 2.5
Smell: biscuity malt, lemon, floral, sulfury lager 4.25
Taste: same as above, slightly sweet and finishes bitter 4.25
Feel: light on carbonation, but in relatively full bodied for this ABV 3.5
Overall: awesome beer, but the lack of carbonation and head keep it from being great. I wonder if it was a bad bottle. Cap came off real easy and the beer level appeared low in the bottle 4

Hope everyone has a great NBS!

@StrongRepublican @smakawhat How available are the Framinghammer variants? I would like a couple each of Vanilla, Coffee, Coco-Nut. Just not sure what to offer up.
