Good point and I agree the economic benefit the new pub provides to the community is significant.

hm interesting. Didn't have that issue when I went, everyone was quite nice. Didn't notice any upcharges but we just got wings.

Everyone was 'nice' in that they tried to clear plates that were not finished (this happened to us and multiple tables around us), they tried to sell dessert when it was refused once politely (again not just our table), and we were offered additional bread for our smoked salmon appetizer only to be told that it was $2.00 extra. Hopefully it's only growing pains and will be solved for eventually.

I went to Modern Times festival of Dankness yesterday , Alpine wasn't even a standout they poured baby Nelson and pure hoppiness . I think it's just other breweries have caught on and are making better IPAs . Nelson will always be my favorite beer !

I had Hoppy Birthday on tap last week, here in Hawaii. It was freshly tapped, so I'm fairly certain it wasn't old. It was a bit more malty than the sip I had a year ago.

Yes, I went the same day that the OP went and had a great experience (except for sub-par Nelson). That was the third time I've been to the new brewpub, and every time's been quite nice. Maybe OP had a new/inexperienced server?

I wouldn't say we "missed this" like the HF stuff. 5 days old vs. 1 hour ;D

Great now the East Coast/HF is going to get the original recipe for Nelson and we get stuck with the GF version.

Sorry to be dense, but what exactly is the HF news?

Appears from Twitter/Instagram feeds that HF and Pat/Alpine were brewing a collab @ Hill Farmstead late last week. I imagine...say, pre-GF acquisition...this sort of thing would've caused many a creaming of pants.

My local grocery store, which has always had a fairly decent beer selection, now has Alpine bombers, including the big three IPAs, sitting right next to GF bombers. But while this store's prices are otherwise solid ($13.99 for Sculpin six-packs, for example), the Nelson bombers are $9.29/each.

Are all Alpine bombers still brewed by Alpine, or are GF bottles now being distributed? And will GF charge $9/bomber for Alpine stuff even in SD?

It is still Alpine brewing the bombers as far as I am aware, plus they would need to alter the label to have "green flash" somewhere on it due to ABC rules (I do believe).

GF is not bottling Alpine atm, but expect it soon(tm)

Edit: Also damn, that is just shy of twice the price at the brewery.

Still brewed at Alpine, distributed by GF, and yes, the prices went up, at least on Nelson and Duet. Not sure on pricing for the other bottles but GF raised prices on Nelson/Duet at the distro level.
