    Hellooooooo everyone!

It's been hectic here these last few weeks since I've posted last. Last time I posted I had just gotten a puppy and was having my house warming party for the new house we are in. Life is crazy and unexpected sometimes.

The puppy (Oliver) has been growing. When we first got him two weeks ago he was 7.4lbs. At his vet check this past Wednesday he was 13.5lbs. Apparently, he was hungry. We told the vet that he has been 'naughty' (my girlfriends choice of word,) but the vet reassured us that he is actually just 'dumb.' Ha. He's just too young to be able to put it together that he shouldn't be doing certain things yet. For instance, yesterday afternoon he chewed through a coaxial cable behind the couch. I guess it's good that he is getting too fat to fit behind the couch.

For every 3-4 bad things he does, he cuddles right up next to you and you forget how 'naughty' he has been. I'm such a sucker.

Today is the first day that I've had the house alone without the puppy for just over two weeks now. So naturally it means one thing, time to mow the lawn. It was a strange feeling today, heading out to mow the lawn. The house that I moved into is my grandmothers' house. The house has been in my family since 1933, and I used to mow this lawn every Sunday for my grandmother when she was alive. It was like deja vu, heading out to open the garage and pull out the old mower. Fill it up with gas and spill it all over just like I used to when I was younger. Just crazy range of emotion...weird.

Anywho, lawns all mowed and there was definitely one difference in today from the old days...Lawson's Super Session #2. Rating #200 btw. I hadn't realized until I went to do this. Would have popped something a bit different. Oh well.

Hey you all NBSers! Thanks Dave for as you say "taking care of our mother" and for jump starting us all this am. You know there are some states that do not require recycling which is just ridiculous to me. It winds up being a boostnfor the economy and saves our planet.......I just don't get that.......
Anyhow I'm looking through some posts and let me just say I feel lucky to be a part of the Family here. There are not many things you can count on anymore ( or the list is getting shorter anyway) but to see the same names every week with interesting stories and beers, well its fun.
Anyhow speaking of families the nest is again empty as my son (senior) and daughter (soph) were transported back to college today.
    So beer for today is....
    STONEFACE BREWING INDIA PALE ALE

Pours a hazy orange/gold with a thick billowing head three fingers thick that leaves rings of lacing on the glass as it settles. Very nice looking pour with cascading bubbles.
The aroma is of sweet malt, citrus blossoms and essences and pine and herbal grassiness. Would have liked just a touch more in this department.
Taste follows with notes of orange, lemon and grapefruit with herbal notes and as the beer warmed a touch of passion fruit and mango. This is all wrapped around a core of not overly sweet malt with a nice touch of Bitter.
Feel is dry and nicely Bitter that leaves a slight slickness on the tongue. Carb is medium. Body is medium and it has a nice lingering aftertaste. Very easy to drink.
On my short visit to NH I had a chance to sample and pick up a few of Stoneface brews and I'm glad I did. I loved the Red Rye Ale and the 6th Anniversary DIPA was also good.I don't see this beer in my distro but if I did I would purchase regularly. This is a well balanced IPA that hits the sweet spots. Well brewed with quality ingredients its nice and clean. In its taste smooth and harmonized with all the ingredients and its look is sleek and sexy. Aroma was slightly underwhelming...hey if your looking for a hop PUNCH in the mouth or a sweet malt bomb look elsewhere. But if you want a finely crafted balanced IPA it hits the spot.

And of course for NOVS a song from Fleetwood Mac s Rumors. I always loved the energy and rythmic pulse of Second Hand News. Enjoy your hot summer Labor Day Week and as always....... Thanks for listening![IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Good Afternoon NBS'ers. My thanks to those that keep this thread running, it is always appreciated. This week has been mostly pleasant, good weather, good week at work and more pumpkin ales than you can shake a stick at. My new Pumpkin Ale Sunday is:

Long Trail Brewing Co. - Imperial Pumpkin Ale (Brush and Barrel Series)

This beer was stored in the fridge at a chilly 45F but warmed at room temp for a few mins before pouring into a grand snifter. It displays a nice cloudy, amber in color with a 1 finger width of off-white head that dissipates somewhat quickly (issues setting up to take the pic) leaving sparse lacing.

The nose is wonderfully balanced with sweet malts, cloves, ginger and subtle cinnamon, very pleasant. The taste is concurrent, slightly bitter and warmer on the finish when cooler, as it warms it becomes much smoother. The cloves really usher the rest of the flavors through to a pumpkin finish which lingers a little if you look for it. This is a strong med. body to full body with a slightly oily feel on the palate. I really enjoyed this Pumpkin Ale and its setting the standard for the rest I will be trying this season. Cheers to fall! My Review.

Love the Butterflies don't see that many here in NH. But I do have a nice bunch of humming birds around our trumpet vine this time of year.

Good afternoon NBS family. Running a few errands today and I was right by the beer store so I said to my self why not:slight_smile: Pours burning amber with a fluffy white head I love the way the rye plays with the hops it's bitter and spicy and bold. Finish is clean and not overwhelming. Very nice from Alaskan. Have to review official. Cheers

Hello everybody, trying Liftbridge Silhouette Imperial Stout today. It poured a nice black with minimal head and almost no lacing. Smelled of dark roast and hints of vanilla. Taste and mouth feel were both substandard, very weak in both departments. For a 10% stout it was missing the big flavors and creamy substantial mouth feel I've come to expect.

Greetings NBSers! I had surveying work scheduled today in Brooklyn that could have gone either way- quickly or interminably long- and I didn't even think I was going to be able to participate on this one. Everything went beautifully, though, and I was ready to pull out of my parking spot by 1pm. I did consider heading over to Other Half to get some cans at that point...until I saw exactly what the BQE planned to take out of my hide for doing so. No way, Jose- a quick turn of the wheel and I was on the Brooklyn Bridge and headed home instead.

So no fresh IPAs for me today. No problemo, I will be having the opposite instead-

Some Clown Shoes Rexx, barrel aged Imperial Red. Shown under my Red chiles, which will soon be roasted and frozen until needed. This pot got tons of heat and sun, and those suckers are insanely hot. If I can't have a nice lawn, at least I can get some benefit to this weather .

This is a really nice beer- dates, dark sugar, orange peel, vanilla, berries, and a barrel character that is as much 'rummy' as it is 'bourbony' all come out front and center. The finish lingers with a surprising snap of evergreen bitterness, and then a subdued lingering toasty malt. It is just a touch sweet and hot for my tastes, but not so much that it upsets the balance all too much. First impressions are a bare A- (4.1), although there is still a lot of this one to go at the moment.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, everybody!

Mostly clear, dark copper with a substantial off-white head.

Smells fruity and malty. Semi sweet.

Smells better than it tastes. The flavors don't pop much. Fairly swet caramel malts a d toffee with some sour fruits. A lot like apple cider,or just fermented fruit. A bit leafy, like a sweet tea with lemon. Definite bitterness and hops that are floral. Touch of black pepper spiciness.

Without looking it up, I could tell this was an ESB, so it cant be too far off. However, I dont think it is as balanced as it should be for the style. They took the bitterness too literally, and it looks and smells better than it tastes.
