I have nearly a fridge full of stouts/porters that I can't wait to tap into, for right now I drink them in the morning while watching soccer on the weekend. i drink mostly IPAs and dIPAs. with the weather being very warm, its been at least 92 for 4 straight days. stouts/porters are not what i crave after a hot day of work, i put down a natty in the shower before tapping my ipa/dipa collection.

do you drink imperial stouts/stouts/porters in hot weather? or do you enjoy them mainly in cool weather?

Dark beers, like, wine, under 70 F as a rule.
Now there are plenty of beers, however, that I'll let warm up to hit their peak: dense IPAs, some farmhouse and saisons...
But in terms of temp (outside) - if it's over 75, it's beer weather in general. Under 70, i start to glare at the dark beers, and yes, wine.

I'll drink a stout on a hot August afternoon and a pilsner on a cold January night. No fucks given.

For me, any high ABV beer is good for colder weather (well AZ cold ) because it warms me up. This isn't just limited to stouts, any high ABV beer. However, I do tend to enjoy high ABV IPA's all year round.

I drink stouts year round ... and where I live, that means even in 100-degree weather.

But I definitely drink a lot more stout during the fall, winter and early spring. I've dipped into my "cellar" of big stouts 3-4 times this summer, but that corner of the fridge will empty out quickly once the weather cools off.

It depends on what temperature I'm in. Cold = heavier body, higher alcohol, usually darker brews. Hot = lighter body, lower alcohol, usually lighter colored brews.

I drink Stouts n dIPA's year round because thats what I like but I do drink them less often in the warm weather. I'll drink one or the most 2 then switch too a summer ale or lighter IPA for the summer months. In the colder weather its mostly all stouts, Porters and dIPA's in my fridge with my one year round go to beer - all day IPA.

I drink a good mix year round but I do tend to go heavier (stouts, porters, big barrel-aged offerings) during the colder months.

I had three dark beers last night actually. But it wont be outside in the sun. I wait until night or stay inside. I like piney/dank ipas in cold months because although i love stouts, i get burnt fast on coffee or chocolate flavors. High abv and bitterness i get from ipa is nice when its cold. Last year was some Heavy Seas ipas while shoveling all that snow

I do NOT drink imperial stouts/stouts/porters in hot weather. Although these are among my favorite styles, I wait until November to start drinking them. I still have one last case of Narragansett Summer Ale to get through and then have 5 cases of Oktoberfest beers to drink.

I Still indulge in stouts even with these hot summer days. I work in a temperature controlled environment and i keep my AC blasting at home. So its always great weather for me to have a stout or porter. i only ever do ipas when im at a bar with friends cause the ABV is usually lower and i can pound more.

I drink every style all year round, but rarely drink anything big in the summer.

With air conditioning it's less about the season and more about my temperature at the moment*. If I want a beer right after mowing the lawn and I'm warm I'm gonna reach for something lighter. If it's the end of the day and I'm relaxing on the couch then I have no problem grabbing something big to sip. Though I also have no problem going light at the end of the day, I'm currently on a German lager kick so at the end of the day I've been drinking plenty of lighter stuff.

*I tend to try and save energy by letting the AC run warm during the summer and the heat run cool in the winter so season does have some influence.

I bounce around, but I generally prefer darker beers when the weather is colder out. I just don't get those sort of cravings for those beers on really hot days.

I tend to like my seasons, and beers that go with them. What beer I want though is the beer that I want so opposite day is part of my beer drinking MO too.

I had a porter 2 nights ago. It's 92-98 here in Texas. I prefer the darker beers in the evening. I prefer the high abv beers in cooler weather. I'll drink'em all at any time if situation warrants it. IE: how much I've already had or who's offering.

I drink coffee in the summer, so why not darker beers?

I don't see color as making a difference as much as gravity does, and I look at Imperial Stouts as being in the category of high-gravity beers anyway. Say the word 'stout' to me and my mind immediately goes to beers under 7%, and those aren't as weather-dependent. For high-gravity beers in general, yeah, cooler temps seem to go better.

I just picked up some more St. Peter's Cream Stout today, because the ones from last week were tasting mighty fresh and delicious. The time of year can't trump something like that .

I am seasonally indifferent as it relates to styles. My mood matters far more than the weather outside.

Of course the exception to the rule is if I am actually spending a fair amount of time outside, in which case I don't want to be downing and sweating out a huge imperial stout in 90+ degree weather.
