Redeemed trader: mathieu87

@mathieu87 profile links to his Facebook account. His friends list is hidden, but there are several people liking/commenting on his photos. I don't recommend harassing those people, but a friendly message to them asking if Mathieu is OK and that you're concerned about his well being. Mention you have a beer exchange setup with Mathieu but he has not been responding and that you hope nothing happened to him.

I got bad trader to respond and deliver his end of the trades (affected me personally and 3 other traders) in a similar manner. Ended up getting a response from his cousin, who contacted him, which ended up pushing him to show up. I was genuine in my concerns for his well-being first and foremost, but did want to get my trade resolve secondarily.

 

@mythaeus that's brilliant, beautiful & well worth noting. It very nicely provides a poke if necessary (which is usually the case) while remaining compassionate & sensitive to other possibilities.

@OneBeertoRTA that's very promising. Did you reach him via FB? Please update as you know more, shipping dates, tracking confirmed etc.

 

Keeping an eye on this one. I met him 2+ yrs ago for an IP in Brussels and met him up again for drinks at moeder. Really nice guy. My wife and I met him up with him and his gf. I have never done any intl trades so I wouldn't know much about his trading. I am friends with him on FB (rarely message each other) - occassional likes here and there from him on some pictures.

And yes his vacation story can be verified from his FB pictures.

PS this was the first time I have ever checked the bad trader forum (bored) and just happen to see his name pop up.

 

I don't want to be *that guy*, but in this case I will. If you set up a trade and go on vacation, don't you *communicate* that to your trade partner in advance? Especially a trade of this magnitude. Why leave your trade partner hangin and have them have to inquire what's going on through FB or other social media. Seems odd to say the least. While I hope this gets resolved, the trader in question definitely makes my list even if they are a *great guy*. Great traders communicate all the time.

 

@dmbforever I agree. This trade also involved a substantial amount of money both in high value beers the op shipped as well as shipping costs incurred. Rip me off for $5 I'm pissed on principle. Rip me off. Rip me off for $100s I'm hurting.

 

Just to be clear, I am not defending him at all and agree 100% with you on communication. Communication is key!

Shipping a month after the bad trader thread was started, two months after you'd already shipped & over 3 months after the trade was finalized. That's just bad all around, especially given the amount invested in the trade on your end. He might be a great guy but nothing I've seen supports that.

 

Hope u give him the appropriate feedback, he is not a good trader.

 

I don't think *any* feedback will be possible until he verifies under the new trading verification guidelines.

 

Would you like this thread closed and renamed to indicate the change in status?

I think that would be appropriate.

 

Fortunately the OP got his beer. Unfortunately, this is a case where the trader in question @mathieu87 won't get the *negative* feedback they rightfully deserve (IMO) that everyone should be able to see in his trading stats.

 

Hopefully people are doing their research on their potential trade partners and not just relying on the Feedback System. Lots of useful information from prior to the Feedback System that can assist you in evaluating trade partners.

 

One of the reasons why we keep these threads.

We understand people are loathe to leave negative feedback, but when more info is available (e.g., these threads), people can make up their own minds.

It may be time to put some kind of tag on them to ease searchability and remind traders to use that search function prior to agreeing to trades.
