"funkiest" saisons??

    Not really one to create threads but figured screw it...
    I love funky beers it's my favorite quality in any beer.
    I'm only 22 but have tried quite a few Brett beers and saisons, but I'm looking for the funkiest of them all!
    So funky the average person would gag just from the smell!
    So tell me ba' s what the funkiest saison or any beer in general you've tried or would recommend?!?!

    I do have a saison dupont to open this afternoon hoping it will be the most funky I've tried!

    If you can still find it; Grand Teton's Grand Sour Saison was nicely funked. Smell was more funky than the flavor, but still a great beer.

    I'm sure you already know this one but Boulevard Saison Brett has pretty good funk.

    Saison DuPont is a good saison and a standard that other saisons are compared too, but not that funky.

    Fantome can be crazy funky, but you never know until you start drinking it :astonished:

    Yeah that's my favorite I've tried so far for sure!
    And yeah I've been reading duponts is not super funky


    Wish distribution was better here in sc looks like I need to get my trading game on!!

    As readyski said, Fantome is your answer. Lot of bottle to bottle and batch to batch variation so you never really know what you're going to get but when it's good it's great. Avec Les Bons Voeux or Anchorage Love Buzz might be easy to find and can be pretty funky too.

    Wicked Weed's Bretticent qualifies. If there is such a thing as too funky, this comes close.

    Pretty much anything by Anchorage that's readily available is going to give you a nice dose of funk. Not a saison, but their Whiteout Wit was probably the funkiest beer I've ever had and it was absolutely divine. I wish Victory's Wild Devil still had the same funk I remember it having when they first made it because then I'd recommend that too.

    Just had Saison Brett... while not THE funkiest example, it is a superb beer. Plus, if you age it, you can let it get as funky as you would like. Perfect example of a brett laced saison IMO.

    As some have said fantome, I had the chocolat and it was super funky and strange and awesome.

    with a little age Casey Saisons become extremely Brett forward, with some nice acidity as well.

    Tilquin Gueuze / Tired Hands Para 4 / 3F Oude Gueuze have been the absolute funkiest I have encountered so far and LOVED them all.

    Smuttynose Smuttlabs Smuttwater 1.0 was really funky. More so than Saison-Brett IMO. Perennial Aria was up there as well.
