The lines really aren't an issue anymore, unless you want to get there hours before they open. Both time I've went this past year (for a fruited release), I've spent no more than 5 minutes in line.

That is assuming they have the extra space and equipment to accommodate an expansion in batch size. I don't think they do, so that would require a massive immediate investment to obtain both.

The only bad thing about this line was the heat, and JK has no control over that. Well, they used to be able to procure rain on release weekends, but seems they've done away with that now.

Thanks for your kind words. The only significant lines I can recall this year were the Atrial Rubicite Release and Sherry Barrel Atrial Rubicite release. The line for the latter was significant, but not that bad in my opinion because it moved fairly quickly. Aside from these instances, I can't recall another time this year where the lines were long/took a long time. Atrial Rubicite and Sherry Barrel Atrial Rubicite constitute a fraction of the beer we've released this year. The line to purchase the other 15 or so beers we have available is virtually non-existent. If people are only interested in just one beer we make, than yes, they may have to wait in a line. - Jeff

Keep doing what your doing. I was out of town for the Atrial releases but beers like Repose and Foudreweizen have been amazing and I am glad Jester King is pushing the envelope to allow me to try new things and think of beer differently.

The Natural Union / World's Worst Twin line was substantial, but it was a good time for those of us who are capable of having a good time.

Basically you're saying if you enjoy trying new JK beers and you're not right near the brewery you're screwed.

There aren't lines if you do not show up the hour they open. Even for "Shatrial" there was no line after an hour (maybe 2?) of opening when there were still plenty of bottles.

I like new Lakewood beers. I am screwed because I am not near Lakewood.

I do not see why every other brewery in TX does not get criticized for not sending their beer elsewhere in TX, but JK? They get constant crap from out of towners who think they deserve the right to every beer that is released.

Live closer to the brewery if it is that big of a deal to you. Or, enjoy your local beer that you get that other people in TX do not get. Why people further away from JK constantly think JK should be trying to make them happy is beyond me. They run a business and sell beer. They cannot cater to everyone's needs, they just sell beer as a first come, first serve basis. Why they should go out of their way to make sure specific people have easier access just seems pointless.

Better to be the giving than receiving. It's that way with every brewery.

It's a highly desirable brewery that makes good beer, there's going to be a line, it's like that everywhere in the country, it's not unique to Jester King.

The thing that's most untrue about this post is the assumption that all their beers sell out quickly or that there aren't very many. They've been on a run of a new release almost every weekend for as long as I can remember this year and almost all of them last more than a month, some several months. Fen Tao is about to be on its 3rd weekend. Nocturnal lasted 3 or 4 weekends and those are the fruit sours. I personally loved Sin Frontera and they ran out of bottles fairly quickly (and I didn't get any), but then it was still on tap for a couple months and I had it something like 3 more times over the summer. If you want some, get your ass to the brewery. It's like there aren't thousands of other craft breweries in the country or something.

    Because trading.

Name another TX beer that trades like a JK 500ml (or 330ml). I despise what beer trading has become.

I am fully aware why these people are mostly complaining. They can't get their trade bait like they used to.

On the other side, there is so much damn good beer in TX these days, but half the people out there care about is a fresh Pliny like it is some kind of amazing experience that you cannot get from some shelf beer here. Hype around beer has made a joke of a lot of people in the beer community. People trying to sell a single bottle of JK for $800 is just pitiful on so many levels.

I swear if you told half of these people who are worried about trading to do a side by side of a local beer with some "whalez" they are trading for, they would be completely out of their element on distinguishing which one is which.

That is not for all of the people, but a lot of them.

Don't you know beer flavor is 50% hype? Without hype, there is no flavor

No one should blame folks for showing up early after the Atrial b5 shit show, no matter when the announcement was made. The blanket statements about lines at JK are false, but they only just figured out how to get people in and out quickly. In fact, I was in line early and got through quickly thanks to their efficiency. Turns out I could have showed up 2 hours later and not have waited in line, but I'm not going to pretend I knew that, nor should anyone else.

Even with Atrial, the line died down after they got through the initial rush.

But that's the risk you take. I don't think a single JK beer has ever sold out with the initial line. They always die down eventually. If the beer is that important to you that you're willing to get there early and risk standing in line over getting there late to not stand in line but risk not getting a bottle, it's your choice. If not standing in line is more important, show up later, if the not getting the beer is more important, get there early and stand in line.
