Any recommendations on a beer store in the Detroit area and allows you to break a six pack to buy singles?
I'll be in the Downtown Detroit area, but I have a car so I'll be mobile.
    Thanks.

Spend the time, drive 20min to Holiday Market in Royal Oak and you'll be happy you did.

Yep. Nothing in Detroit Proper will come close to Holiday.

What they said. Holiday is top shelf. Royal Oak also has another decent bottle shop, Cloverleaf. There are also three decent brew pubs, and a solid beer bar all in an easy walkable downtown area. Drive north a few minutes, if you have the time Royal Oak is a nice town

Eight Degrees Plato in Ferndale will also single out anything. Great knowledgeable staff too.

Eight degrees just opened their store in midtown. If it's anything like the one in Ferndale, it would be in your best interest to check it out. Plus I heard they have beer on tap to drink while you shop!

There's a place in Hamtramck called Steve's Party Store. It's right off of I-75. They get all of the Michigan local stuff including limited releases and let you break up anything into singles. They do keep some stuff in the back, so asking (the beer guy is coincidentally named Steve) might lead you to some nice stuff.

I'm surprised no one mentioned merchant's fine wine? Hands down the best liquor store in the area. It's in Dearborn, an easy drive from downtown Detroit.

I second Steve's in Hamtramck. I stop there weekly. Decent prices on singles.

Because Holiday is the same distance and closer. I used to frequent Merchant's, but they don't have nearly the selection or prices compared to Holiday.

That's what I was about to chime in with. In addition, if they don't have a single of what you want, they'll break up a 6 pack for you.

Agree on Holiday Market. Also great choice is Champane's Wine Cellars in Warren (but further away from Detroit)

Keg and Wine in Redford, Beech and 5 mile. Mile north of the 96 exit. Also, Wine Palace in Livonia is right off the Middlebelt exit of 96. Wine Palace will let you break just about anything on the shelves (although they prefer the stuff in the coolers stay in the packs)
