I personally like to see pics of bottles w fill lines and cap/cork before trading and send the same back to them if dealing w rare beer/older lambic. It is easy as a pic text as I always require a cell number as well. That being said, seems that Troutman is using that as his poor excuse for just having second thoughts and backing out. As always communication of intentions or lack there of is always at the nexus of these trade issues (that or being a jackass thief).

I'd love to see the full conversation as well.

Asking for pics seems reasonable enough. The apparent requirement that those pics be posted through BA rather than via text or email does not. Posting pics to BA requires the ability to host photos on a separate server, which is something bit everyone may want to do. It certainly shouldn't be a requirement for trading, or at the very least should be something that is warned in advance.

Like it or not @Troutmen, what has been presented here isn't "good trader" behavior, even if you didn't scam anyone out of beer.

I hate to see this happen to a great trader. We have sent a few boxes back and forth and I was blown away by the generosity of @Wehler. Hope you can get your MD bud!

This is where people's true colors come out. If this was all a big misunderstanding or he did everything right he would be apologetic. Instead he is combative and defensive, seems to be the script these bad trader threads follow.

I personally don't need to see the convo to realize that @Troutmen agreed to a trade and backed out. It's plain and simple in my book, he should get negative feedback. I mean, he has (22) *registered* trades under his belt. It's not like the trade accept button was something new to him. Besides, I wouldn't worry about retaliatory feedback, as its tough to give any feedback when you are in a *timeout*

if you would just follow through on your commitments...or at least explain why you won't to the OP, you wouldn't have a problem.

so you'll provide proof that photos were required before you accepted the trade, right?

and you made that clear to the OP? it doesn't appear so.

and just in case you're not clear on this...i back @Wehler 100% here. aside from the trades Mike and I have completed *with* feedback, we've also exchanged a number of unsolicited/unexpected boxes. i have no reason to question his side.

he's willing to post the conversations you've had verbatim.

nice asshole attitude. as if *you* with all of < 4 months here can say how trades work here. i've done over 200 trades here incluing bottles bigger than the ones in this trade and *never* been asked to provide photo evidence pior to shipping. that basically says you don't trust your partner or the system here. if that's the issue, trade elsewhere.

Mike indicated he was willing to send photos via other means...why was that a problem? why wouldn't you respond?

hardly. maybe OP could have workes another trade if you said the deal was off.

and your reputation? hmmm. deffo harm there. not to mention changing your profile status.

one would also figure you would know how to behave if you're such an experienced trader. leaving your partner hanging is very mature.

@Wehler BM'd me to ask how to approach this situation. i told him to post a thread about it. obviously, it's the only way you were going to respond...so yeah, it's 100% warranted. if i were him, i'd drop bad feedback on you like a ton of bricks. if he does and you retaliate, your account is toast.

i wouldn't worry about hanging on to your precious bottles too much...not too many people will want to trade with you here.

He's truly done now, since he opened another account and tried to trade his MD for BVDL yet again.

@Wehler asked to leave a few of his own comments here, so I've opened it up for him.

Let's limit this to his response only.

It's pretty clear how the community feels about 'the other guy' (and no, I don't mean John Oates, Jose Carreras or Andrew Ridgeley).

Well folks, the BA community really impressed here today. I did not intend for Troutmen to fare so poorly as I was only seeking an explanation for what had happened. In the end, he disappointed but everyone else truly impressed! I mentioned earlier that our trading peers played the role of judge and jury with quick, accurate and effective results. Thanks to those who participated in getting everything sorted out. I hope this thread stays up permanently so that people can see how internet arbitration can and should be handled. Also, thanks to @F2brewers for guiding the ship.
