I didn't get a Cable Car and I could care less. I had heard all the stories about how surly the bartenders/owners were at Toronado but I had nothing but a great experience each and every time I went. In matter of fact, I drank with 2 of the bartenders after they got off work and get this, they were both nice, great, fun people to hang out with.

I have been to Toronado a few times now and have met almost every bartender. No CC but I had s great time drinking with the regulars and employees. To make a long story short, I truly don;t believe they had any CC but I had an awesome time drinking/sharing bottles with the emplyees. Good times!

You should visit the Toronado in San Diego.

Where the Cable Car flows like wine...

Lol, prost! So alcohol may cause redundancy. Regardless, I stand by what I said and I meant to say regulars as well as employees. We all bought bottles to share with each other.

It's clean and you can find a seat, if that's what you mean. Were you looking for more hippies and vagrants?

    Thanks :sunglasses:

But seriously, it's just boring. Toronado SF is an experience. Toronado SD lacks that dynamic, it's just a beer bar. It's a great beer bar, but I feel like SF has history, a different clientele, and an entirely different atmosphere. To be honest, I just order beer, I don't want to chit chat, so there's really zero chance for me to experience any grumpiness. I am also 4/4 ordering Cable Car, it seems that's a deal breaker for many BA people.

Not hating on SD, just prefer the more interesting atmosphere of SF.

In a frightening development... there are actually a couple nice bartenders at Toronado as of late.

You're right. I'm starting to get really disappointed. I even recently asked one of them "why aren't you angry?" His response was "fuck you (wish a smile)." First the cleaning, then the smiles. Next thing you know they're going to actually clean the beer lines. Place is going way downhill.

Bugdoc, that comic is amazing. Funny though that Stu actually is a really nice dude if you're not one of the people asking for Pliny the Younger in July.

Yeah, I was going to say, Stu is, in my experience, one of the very nicest people who work at Toronado.

Give Toro-South 20years in the same location and I'm sure it'll look a lot like Toro-North as of today.

Agreed - Stu is awesome. To be honest, I've only see the bartenders go off for a few reasons - 1) trying to pay with credit card (there are numerous signs saying cash only and the cash register is analog), and 2) repeatedly trying to order by name instead of number at festivals (It's pretty hard to remember which handle is which when there are suddenly 40+ barleywines or Russian River beers, most without custom handles).

    3) Ordering 20 beers, one at a time, usually for other people, while pretending you only wanted one beer. Especially if you pause in deep thought at any point to think about what else you need.
