9/11 has me reflecting on that awful day but also on the era. Can't believe it's been 14 years! 2001 was the year I met my now wife and moved in with her. We saw rock shows, and drank beer. I remember getting Sierra Nevada at the Knitting Factory on Leonard Street. Stella Artois at Mercury Lounge (cold Stella, so good). And Bud at Irving Plaza since it was cheap. In the fridge I occasionally had a six of Becks (miss that beer).

Well I was 11 so I'd hope I wasn't drinking yet but I am drinking a cold Stella Artois as I type this. Cheers

I was in college and on a tight budget. Saranac lager was a frequent visitor to the mini fridge because cases were cheap and it was tasty compared to BMC offerings of similar price. Also, the bar across the street served it by the pitcher for a buck during happy hour along with nickel a piece wings.

Bell's Two Hearted poured from a hand-pulled beer engine. Awesome then, still awesome now.

My girlfriend (now wife) and I spent the day watching the news and drinking from a 12-pack of Amstel Light.

I turned 21 in 2001 and 9/11 marked the beginning of my senior year in college. I remember that morning very clearly.

I was mostly drinking Bud Light, along with Rolling Rock and Honey Brown (I think?) when we would go to the campus bar. There were also lots of kegs and pitchers with unknown beer-like contents. This was also the year that I started drinking Sam Adams.

I was living in GR, Michigan at the time and my favorite place in town was shockingly not Founders but rather Grand Rapids Brewing. They had a killer ESB that I couldn't keep my hands off of. I was also doing ANG time down in Battle Creek, so Arcadia became my once a month weekend beer fun place to be.

At 24 I was drinking Pilsner Urquell, Guinness and the occasional Sierra Nevada Pale. Sierra Nevada wasn't really on tap everywhere and I mostly only drank beer at the bar as I normally had wine at home or at a restaurant. Back then people would comment on how I liked fancy beers. Hmmm.
To the OP...I went to watch my friend play at The Cake Shop a few weeks ago. They had two categories of beer. Craft and then just Beer. Seirra Nevada was under Beer. How times have changed.

Red Stripe and Carona? I was in college, what was in bottles back then was easily "better" than cans.

I do remember trying some Sam Adams IPA that maybe had a yellowish label on it, and thinking I could never get through more than 2 of them. My times have changed.
